Here’s what I’ve found out about “Spin Along”.
It was a “record programme” presented by Alan Freeman, but it also featured a personal appearance from a musical guest each week. The programme also starred teenagers from youth clubs in the Westward region. Perhaps they gave their opinions on the discs that Freeman played. The producer was Pat Lumsden.
The first series ran from 12 September 1961 to 30 November 1961. Series 2 ran from 11 June 1962 to 26 November 1962.
Then there was the “Spin Along Santa” special which William has mentioned. This featured “carols old and new” from the guests. As far as I know, Leslie Hoare did not host any of the regular editions of “Spin Along”.
“Spin Along” returned on 07 January 1963. The final edition was broadcast on 28 January 1963.
Here’s a list of musical guests from first few editions of the show:
12/09/1961: Eden Kane 19/09/1961: Paul Raven 26/09/1961: The Viscounts 03/10/1961: Jimmy Justice 10/10/1961: John Leyton 17/10/1961: Paul Hanford 24/10/1961: The Kestrels 09/11/1961: Jess Conrad 16/11/1961: The Brook Brothers 23/11/1961: Craig Douglas

Regarding the Gene Vincent photo's two posts up, the saxophonist listed for the Boy Meets Girls TV shows was Red Price, so that must be him. The other regular musicians listed for the shows were Joe Brown, Eric Ford, Brian Daley (guitars), Alan Weighall (electric bass), Bill Stark (stand-up bass), Andy White & Don Storer (drums), and the Vernons Girls. I hope this info is correct (I took it from the booklet that accompanied the Eddie Cochran box set I bought in a long time ago in 1988, though it seems longer...)

Thankyou! I have been viewing this site for a few years but never thought of posting anything before, mainly because I don't know too much, until now. Unless Gene sang them on other BMG shows too, 'Frankie & Johnny' might come from the show broadcast on 19.12.59, 'Summertime' from 26.12.59, though I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone with more info than me can confirm?

At The Cider Apple TWW 6/5 - 10/6/66 TWW operated from two sites, a converted farm at Pontcanna, near Cardiff (now demolished and replaced by a housing estate) and similar facilities at Bath Road in Bristol. TWW was the first to showcase Adge Cutler - his appearances on the TWW programme ' The Cider Apple' led to Adge's fame spreading and the formation of The Wurzels. The Cider Apple 6 May 1966, a half hour series of " folk songs, sea shanties and cheerful choruses." The setting was a typical quayside pub, specially built in the Bristol studios. Producer Derek Clark said " the West Country has always been rich in folk songs." The host was Steve Benbow, and behind the bar was Judy Kenney. Regular guests were Chas McDevitt and Shirley Douglas, with Billy Burden. Guests on the first show were The Crofters, Tommy Reilly, Adge Cutler, and Shirley Collins. Anyone know more about Steve Benbow, Judy Kenney, Billy Burden, The Crofters, Tommy Reilly, Shirley Collins?

I can tell you - even without looking Tommy Reilly was a well-known harmonica player - he plays on George Harrison's Wonderwall soundtrack.
He died in Frensham, Surrey, not that far from where I am. Here's his Wikipedia:-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Reilly_(harmonica_player)
I'm guessing (I don't know) that he met GH via George Martin; I think the number he plays on is 'Dream Scene' (which was one of the tracks recorded in the UK).
I'm also guessing sea shanties were one of the things he played on the TWW show, as harmonica was an instrument used by quite few sailors.

A Swingin' Time was from the BBC's Birmingham studios, it was another tea time pop show with many of the acts of the day performing in the studio. The musical director was Les Reed, later to write many hit songs for Herman's Hermits, Tom Jones, The Dave Clark Five and many more.
