Hi Richard, It would've been done with a mic hanging down in front of the TV speaker so the quality won't be great, but if you think it could be of any use in recreating the omnibus I'll dig it out. Pretty sure I also taped the Sea Devils omnibus in the same way, but by the sound of it that would definitely be redundant. Jon Richard, Did you ever locate the audio for the Day Of The Daleks omnibus? I definitely (audio) recorded it at the time, and there's a good chance I still have it. Jon Hello Jon, We do have a copy of the audio for the Day compilation now, but an additional recording of it would always welcome. Sometimes those old 1970s off-air recordings aren't always the clearest and having alternative sources is always a help.

Thank you for your replies Richard.
I had been wondering if these missing omnibus compilations would be reconstructed when the appropriate Seasons were done. Your hard work and that of all the others on the team involved in these excellent Blu-ray releases is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any replies Like the compilation of The Green Death on the Season 10 set, The Daemons is an accurate recreation based on an original off-air audio recording made back in December 1971.

I assume the editing notes have been lost.
DWM once had a feature on the planned Seeds of Doom compilation with the notes for which scenes to be cut down.

I assume the editing notes have been lost. Well, there's a set of scripts with some vague scribbles on them, but nothing of much use. The notes are a PDF on the DVD for The Seeds of Doom. But then they were put together by the always precise Douglas Camfield for the benefit of someone else who would be doing the actual editing, so they're pretty much what you'd expect from him. The finished edit is a very good one and flows very nicely.

What a phenomenal tribute to Douglas Camfield that would be 👍 That was the last DW he worked on and recreating a “lost” work of his would, I’m sure, be very well received.

Is the Sea Devils omnibus on the Collection set Richard's reconstruction from 2017?
I read the Green Death omnibus showed by the BBC annoyed the director because they left off the colour-changing effects from Stevens' death scene, which were on the original broadcast. Are both versions available or is the omnibus "pre-effects" version lost forever?

Is the Sea Devils omnibus on the Collection set Richard's reconstruction from 2017? No, it's a fresh edit by Pete McTighe and Mark Ayres, although Pete had access to both the original off-air audio and the reconstruction I did several years ago. The broadcast omnibus for The Green Death no longer exists at the BBC, so in keeping with the three before that, it had to be remade, as above, using the off-air audio and my earlier reconstruction as a guide. I recall that comment from Michael Briant (although I can't recall where though), but I've got my doubts that he was correct. The edits would have been made using the broadcast episodes. Even if the original studio tapes or early edits survived at that point, it would have involved redubbing all the music from scratch, which would have been a huge extra effort to go to.

No, Amelia is very much a part of the omnibus version!
