And this webpage shows the ridiculous number of hoops the RT had to jump through to bring colour versions of every Pertwee episode into existence. No less than six different methods were used to recolour black and white prints: missingepisodes.blogspot.com/p/colour.html

I'm thankful for the following:
Edge of Destruction: A great monologue and fascinating two parter that gives the first example of the TARDIS being personified.
Airlock: One if my favorite serials from the Hartnell era and a chilling speech from Maaga.
Evil 2: A gorgeous intro to Victoria that felt almost fairytale like in the direction.
Tomb: For how damn lucky we are it exists.
Enemy: My favorite Troughton.
Dinosaurs 1: For completing an era.

I'm also really glad that Edge exists because it relied so heavily on atmosphere, an element that is very hard to capture in recons and animations so it would be pretty tedious to watch as one.

Extant clips are amazing. They let us take a peak at what all these stories were like, and because of them there are technically only 96 missing episodes because we have over 22 minutes of clips. Minus closing credits that is about the length of an average episode. Since you seem informed about the clips: Do you know if the Tenth Planet ending 8mm clip recorded by the Australian fan goes to the end of the episode? Makes sense that we always switch over to the Blue Peter footage when presenting it, but I'm just curious. As I understand it, the last second or so is cut off from the Blue Peter version (hence the freeze frame in the recon). I'm sure there's nothing exciting there, unless Pat opens his eyes or something... I honestly don't know. I got my number off of wikipedia. From what I've seen, the Australian clip appears to be a little bit shorter, but starts a little bit later into the regeneration. I can't really compare them any more than that.

We definitely got the best part back as that speech is amazing. I'm not sure if I'm remembering this right but didn't the BBC have a copy of Galaxy 4 until the early 80s when it was wiped by someone?

The Daleks and Enemy of the World for me.
While it's a little slow, it would be so sad if the first Dalek adventure was missing.
And I was so pleased when Enemy of the World turned up, I always enjoyed the single surviving episode and was very keen to see the rest one day. It's different to the other ones from that time - it runs a lot like an historical story, just set in the future.

There was a story that the Doctor Who Appreciation Society sought permission to screen this serial at a convention in 1978, only to find that the BBC had junked the episodes about three weeks earlier. That's been debunked though.

Dylan, you are not alone! I also like Galaxy 4 (probably more than I should) and I am glad to meet another two fans who appreciate such an underrated story, I would in fact go as far to say that in my opinion, it is the most underrated story in the show's 53 year history. So yeah. I like Galaxy 4, but I don't think it makes it into my top 50 stories.

A very positive thread to kick off 2017 .. and let's hope we can add to the above list of gratefully received episodes and clips when someone launches the 2018 follow-up!
Selfishly I'm grateful to have on my DVD shelf the stories that I have dim memories of seeing in my youngest incarnation: Evil, Tomb and Ice Warriors and letting me refresh my full-on recollections of Web and Invasion. Don't recall Mind Robber or EOTW but glad to have two more full Troughtons.
Grateful for the historical value of having the Unearthly Child and Daleks but really only like Hartnell's Dalek Invasion, Romans, Aztecs, War Machines and the superb Meddling Monk.
Materialising on 1 Janaury 2018.. I'm so grateful to have Power, Evil, Snowmen, Wheel, Fury, Faceless Ones and Macra in BBC Worldwide's release schedule ...

Unearthly Child Part 1. Without it I think the Tribe of Gum would be incredibly tedious as that first ever episode really hooks you in. I'm also grateful for the pilot, even though it isn't all that enamouring on its own it provides a chance to see what was altered in the remount. It's incredible it exists at all!

Yeah it is one of the most underrated stories, I vote on a poll that was Galaxy 4 vs Myth Makers, I was the only G4 voter and I got berated for it!

Actually, after thinking about it, I think it is in my top 50 after all. Yeah, I like The Myth Makers, but I would rather listen to Galaxy 4. I remember being so happy when Air Lock came back in 2011, after listening to the audio and thinking, 'I'd love to see this story' Stuff I'm glad exists The Daleks Galaxy 4 episode 3 The Daleks' Master Plan 2, 5 & 10 The Evil of the Daleks episode 2 The Tomb of the Cybermen The Ememy of the World The Web of Fear 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 The Wheel in Space 3 & 6 The Mind Robber The Invasion 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8 The War Games And all the 8mm film and other surviving clips from the other missing episodes

Being able to see most of the first two seasons is an absolute blessing as it'd be really sad if we didn't have most of the start of the show. I wholeheartedly agree. I have always had a fondness for the original four cast members who were all excellent in their roles and really gelled as a team. How fortunate that all but eleven of Ian and Barbara's episodes are still with us to enjoy today.

Whereas I find Susan to be mostly annoying, she is quite good in The Sensorites and Domain OF The Voord (an audio) though.
