It would appear to survive : linkAlso easy to obtain in unofficial form on a certain website where 'uoffer'! It's a shame Eric Idle doesn't want it repeated or given a release. I've heard it's because it reminds him of a bad time in his life when he was making it.

Didn't they show one or two over Christmas ... I vaguely recall seeing it in the RT before I gave up on it ...

It was repeated maybe 10 years back on one of the Sky channels, IMO it wasn't as funny as I remember it being 1st time around sadly. The one where they introduced "bloody, sex & violence" logos on the top right of the screen was oddly precedent, many years before the Channel 4 banned season did just that. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I've heard of Channel 4's Red Triangle on screen warning, something I was too young to see first hand.

I've seen films where they used to flash a few frames in red so you had chance to look away. Maybe they could do that warning us of a Dave Clark appearance

I'm currently working my way through Dear Boy, which is a Keith Moon biog. In discussing The Who's debut on Ready Steady Go!, he states that "The Who's performance of I Can't Explain that January 29 remains in the private possession of Dave Clark ... [whose] small business empire ... now owns the rights to the entire Ready Steady Go! archive."
Interesting: The author, Tony Fletcher, is implying that as of 1998, (DoP), the RSG! archive was intact ... and definitely that The Who's debut appearance is still extant.
I wish there was some way to get a definitively accurate list of exactly what of RSG! still exists, the format, the quality and whether or not there is any intention of making it available to us lesser mortals.

Difficult to know whether the author really knows what Dave Clark has or whether he's just speculating on the basis that Dave Clark owns ready steady go. I must admit it is odd that he owns it and doesn't exploit it. Still, nobody lives for ever.......

I know nothing more than rumour regarding the RSG archive. It is my understanding that what was shown on channel 4 and released on video is all that survives bar a handful of other clips. I have read a story that someone was able to specifically ask about Johnny Kidd and was told that he does not have his appearances. It is difficult to believe that Clark has much more than was shown. Even knowing what we know about Clark can anyone imagine that for example if he had Hendrix on RSG or the many live appearances of the Stones, Animals, Kinks etc. that he wouldn't be rubbing our noses in it letting us know how great he is for preserving such slices of rock history. My own personal take is that he found out about essentially a pile of tapes and bought/got hold of them. None of the DC5 appearances in the 80s run were actually from RSG were they ? Less so the dubbed on screams of "Dave, Dave" on said clips. Perhaps another pointer. Anyway, to quote the guru in The Monkees' Head, why should I speak since I know nothing ?

I'm just so glad I assiduously compiled all those TV reruns onto that one VHS tape at the time!

You are correct that DC added those DC5 clips, as well as some other 60s non-RSG clips to fill out his VHS tapes. The only other RSG I have in my collection is the complete show that included the Rolling Stones "Around and Around" and Them clips which DC did release.
