Hmm, but aren't we pleased that we now have a DVD containing episodes of a classic BBC comedy not seen for nearly 40 years. Some of the episodes on the DVD have not been released since they were first shown ?
Aren't you all happy to have finally seen examples of a series you may have never seen before ? One of the first Northern based satires on 60's male culture ?
I sometimes get a feeling alot of people on this forum are not the slightest bit interested in archive television but wish to spend their time whinging about releases they would never likely buy in the first place.
The missing episode may well be released later but until then enjoy what you've got ! It will give you something to look forward to !

What a load of old cobblers!
Plenty of people already have the episodes from the television repeats, and are quite happy to support a DVD release of them.
However, this is clearly false advertising. Fact.
While you may wish to act as an apologist for 2Entertain on this issue (and you've every right to your opinion), please don't think you have the right to speak for anyone else, because you don't!

I don't act as an apologist for anyone. Where on Earth have you got that idea ?
I never mentioned anything about 2Entertain missing off what seems to be such a crucial episode - FACT
Just a little suprised that no one has praised the quality, rather than the content.
I totally agree that all episodes should have been supplied as specified, but I am still very pleased with what has been produced and the quality to which it HAS been produced.

Well if you're happy to be diddled out of something you thought you'd paid for, when even the packaging falsely advertises what it doesn't contain, then bully for you.
Personally, I don't like being ripped off in such a manner, and don't think 2Entertain should get off scot-free, regardless what they have bothered to slap on the disc.

Why are you impressed? Because it's better than nothing? That's a bit like some builders leaving your kitchen half-finished and you saying 'Ah well, at least they did the fridge'.
Furthermore, it's the 'Mustn't grumble' attitude among fans which means mistakes like this (often a result of poor research, and easily avoided) continue to happen.

Where else is the episode likely to get released? The mistake's made - the disc's been pressed, and it's too late. If 2Entertain had been less secretive and open to dialogue with fans and experts several months ago, it could have been avoided. And they would have sold a few more copies.

If it's not a case of "couldn't be arsed" with the missing episode, then it's just sheer sloppiness. At the end of the day, we are the customers for their product, so why should we role over and just accept a misadvertised 'second best'?

It Is A Shoddy Release..most Of The Pre-orders Are Going To Be From Fans Of The series..Not The General Public..and We deserve Better!..just A Bit More Thought Could"ve Gone in to This To Make It A Nice Little Package..Christmas Night With The Stars Would"ve been A Great Extra..A Dick clement Interview Maybe?.. Or Rodney Bewes..Theres Not Even A Booklet!...We"ve All seen These Episodes Many ManyTimes..so heres Not A Lot To Look Forward To with This Release, It Is False Advertising, And It Is A Big Letdown.

Quite right! If people do not complain, they will think we are satisfied. I've already written my, very polite, letter. Some people think everything should be compared with the VHS age, where we were grateful for three episodes on a tape. Yes, we were grateful, but we've moved on since then haven't we? DVD is a superior technology, capable of extraordinary things, so it's quite right that our expectations are higher. Besides, if you're producing a DVD of The Likely Lads, then including all the episodes is the absolute minimum you should doisn't it? Unless there's a copyright/technical reason behind the episode's omission (and I can't think what that might be, other than unfounded bitrate worries about a 200m running time), then there's no excuse.

But for £9.99 it is a pretty good deal and hopefully will encourage more people to buy the DVD on the off chance. If it had been £20 then I would have been expecting lots of extras / interviews etc.
