Just a thought: does the packaging actually state that the disc contains all the surviving episodes. 'Cos the BBC website does: "Featuring all the surviving episodes of the classic 60s comedy including the first ever episode and the final instalment." (Though it does list just the 7 episodes: www.bbcshop.com/invt/ebbcdvd1879)

And, if it does, you could force 2Entertain to withdraw the release by making a complaint to Trading Standards. But would 2Entertain then go on to release all 8 episodes ?

Hi,
The DVD sleeve says "featuring all the surviving episodes of the classic 60's comedy including the first ever episode and the final instalment."
So they are telling porkies.
Don't you just hate it when people say 'first ever' or 'last ever'?
It's either the first (or last) or it's not - simple as that.

I've just sent a review to www.amazon.co.ukIt'll be a few days before it appears (if at all) but I basically warned potential buyers of the DVD that it only has 7 out of the 8 surviving episodes on it. I rated it 3 out of 5 (if it contained all 8, I may have rated it 5 out of 5). Peter

You know, this really is sh*tty! If 2Entertain had at least have put out an explanation for the absence of the episode, at least we could say that we were warned. What was the point of BBC Enterprises pulling in the licences from companies like Universal-Playback only to release misadvertised discs like this? This is complete pants!!

If it does, 2Entertain are guilty of misadvertising... And, if it does, you could force 2Entertain to withdraw the release by making a complaint to Trading Standards. In fact, that's exactly what I intend doing on Monday morning, and I would urge others reading this to do the same.

"The Other Side of the Fence" is not the only visual material missing as there is a seven and a half minute sketch from "Christmas Night With the Stars" 1964 which would have made a welcome extra - a missed oportunity. The sketch was infact only Bewes and Bolams third appearance screened in between "Double Date" and "Older Women Are More Experienced."

I'll write to them and see if I get an explanation.

Do they have an email address?
I just had a look at their site and couldn't see one.

If we are all going to complain, then let's at least get the title of the episode right: it's OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE, lacking a definitive article...
