here's a rare STV programme that's not in the 65 missing shows as i discovered it this week on youtube.it's a children's show called 'the dinah saur show'.made and i think shown in 1978 this puppet show was a co-production with a company called ID television or as it is known as the french TV company IDTV who also produced 'the new avengers'.what was the broadcast history of this? was this seen only in the STV region or nationally networked? if so if it was shown on ITV it was only seen once probably in a 12 noon slot unlike yorkshire's 'little blue' thames' 'jamie and the magic torch' & ITC's 'the adventures of rupert bear'which were often repeated in now and again cycles during the 70s & 80s.or if it was only seen on STV was this part of 'the glen michael calvacade' or as a standalone programme? as it was a UK-french co-production,this was a number of european programmes that STV presented to the network & themselves (although their inital logo appeared at the beginning & end of programmes)like 'star parade' which was a german variety show made by ZDF & 'alfie atkins' which was made for swedish television by SVT.how did STV presented those euro shows & any more information on the series'dinah saur'(i.e.transmission dates) would be very greatful.

No11 I believe does exist but on VHS, but is in the STV vaults. To be fair both STV And Grampian did broadcast each other's episodes, either on new years day or just after its own affair.

Thanks Mike...wish there was still a desire by STV (and BBC Scotland) to produce more home grown material for Hogmanay (which also happens to be my birthday) anyway, for me personally the classic years were in the 80's; with the likes of Scotch 'n' Wry with Rikki Fulton. Myself and my pals would go up to Princes Street in the centre of Edinburgh, go to a few pubs, watch the fireworks, then head home to watch recording of Scotch'n'Wry (with one eye closed!) only way to watch TV when slightly "steamboats" (hic) lol.
Nowadays it's a lot quieter for me...went up to Princes Street with my wife in 1996 and there were 400.000 people there celebrating Hogmanay in the snow.

Did you not see the Thingummyjig special on STV It was was that BBC Scotland hogmanay show with chic murray that in 85? that was the death nail for these shows. STV started moving away from that style 86, by 87 ITV network dropped them all together. Even the BBC network got bored.

I noticed that Scotsport isn't on the missing list are there any Scotsport programmes from the 50s through to the 70s (i.e.1957-1979)still in existence or are they lost forever

Unfortunately the earliest complete existing Scotsport in the library is from the 1980s - 1986 I think. There are a number of sequences from the show which are archived - mainly filmed inserts of match highlights and interviews going back to the 1950s - although some examples of studio footage survives. As Scotsport went out live and was never repeated it was rarely recorded. Some film sequences were retained whilst others have been returned in later years. Some of the annual reviews were preserved - possibly from the late 1970s - although I cannot specify which years off the top of my head.

What was used for the 25th birthday special? Not sure about the 25th anniversary but there was `50 Years of Scotsport' broadcast on the last day of 2007 - less than a year before the programmes demise. I have a recording of this and will dig it out tomorrow. From memory it was disapointing on the archive front with the usual clips often seen but a few interesting memories from Montford, Crampsey etc,.
