Still finding using Genome a thrilling and enlightening experience. On a recent thread I explained how after over 50 years of only extremely vague memories I finally identified a distant programme from 1962 (when I was 8) - Cristobal and Company (aka Le Tresor des 13 Maisons). Now I believe I have identified for myself another distant faded memory. All I could recall was at the end of the penultimate episode men in in long curly wigs (possibly Cavaliers) chasing on horse back across moorland . Two riders met and then one rode off at break neck speed for (?) Possibly London. That's all I could recall. Using Genome I believe I have now tracked this down to possibly be The Splendid Spur, a 6 part adaptation of a novel by Sir Arthur Quiller Couch. Anyone out there able to confirm whether I am right? Does this serial still exist in the archive? Thanks for indulging me.

John, at least some episodes of 'The Splendid Spur' still exist at the BBC, and the scene you describe does sound like the events at the end of the third episode (not the penultimate one). A man and a young woman (disguised as a boy) are captured by the Roundheads, tried and imprisoned. They manage to escape, and, as they leave, a guard suddenly realises they're the prisoners, but too late to stop them leaping on two waiting horses, and galloping off (roll the credits).

The French version still exists and can be legally downloaded (paid) from ina.fr.

Do any episodes exist in audio only? If so they could presumably be matched with the French visuals.
