If I recall right, weren't Planet 55 telling the Australian government that underinvestment in Internet backbone was causing them monumental headaches, and they were considering relocating to the UK? If this isn't the root cause of the issue/rumour, then I'll be amazed. But Simon, how will moving to the UK help Planet 55 when the BBC, this country's main tax-payer funded broadcaster can't even make up its mind about how to release a single 50 year old episode of Dr Who! If the BBC can't provide them with any guarantee of commissioning animations, what future if any, does Planet 55 have in this country?

My suspicion is that it's an excuse for late delivery and therefore little more than a cover story - probably for financial or staffing problems. I don't wish Planet 55 to fail, by any means, and I'd much rather that they were a financially healthy company full of happy employees who were able to delivery a beautifully animated "Underwater Menace" on time, you understand. I just happen to have a very active cynicism chip*. * It's an after-market Cyberisation add on, sold to me by a market trader in Telos. I'm not even 100% sure it works properly; I expect he ripped me off.

If this isn't the root cause of the issue/rumour, then I'll be amazed. It's rhetoric and hyperbole. They're not going anywhere. IMO It's far cheaper (but slower) to work here in OZ. The statements were part of a senate submission involving the roll out of the National Broadband Network. Previously the left (Labor) government had inituated and begun rolling out a cool high bandwidth optic- fibre based network. Basically free fibre to everyone's door. Yay. The new right wing coalition says no. You can pay for fibre and we are going to cripple the system with archaic nonsense. It's politics. Planet 55 want what a lot of aussies want. A modern internet infrastructure for a huge country. The reason given for the delay is that they are working on an animation for the ABC called Prisoner Zero.

Jaspal, i think they were having a swipe at the aussie government, thats all. And the classic range is dead it would seem. Unless they change their minds about how many eps to animate !

I'm disappointed. Has anyone reached out to planet 55 to hear if they plan on completing it? It's a shame that a profitable project got stopped.

What ever happened to Qurios? They could of done a web and gone cheap ! But nothing !!!! This only leads people to speculate further, and so its self defeating ! Or do they want the rumour mill hot for when something is ready ? Fed up with all this rain as well lol There are a lot of different people involved and they all do other things. I hardly think the reaction to this is on their minds.

I'd guess that the BBC doesn't have the money to animate it, they don't think it will sell on its own with two stills-and-audio-only episodes out of four, and they can't think of what to append it to.
