It's still a beautiful dupe to have.... Oh, indeed! I wonder how many EotD2 dupes were produced in either 8mm or 16mm? Very few, I should imagine.

In all probability, this is one of the illicit 16mm duplicates made during the 1980s rather than being a genuine BBC Enterprises print. It's certainly one of the episodes known to be duplicated in this period. Richard, Are you able to list the episodes that were taken and copied? For future reference when similar sales come up. The Keys of Marinus 6 The Dalek Invasion of Earth 3 & 6 The Web Planet 6 The Chase 6 The Evil of the Daleks 2 The Web of Fear 1 The Wheel in Space 3 The Invasion 6

Should we read anything into the two recent ebay sales - has the publicity around the Philip Morris finds triggered a rummage around collectors' storage cabinets? Ok so the sales are of episodes already held by the BBC and one of the collectors commented on that fact in the advert, but maybe, just maybe, someone will rummage around and come up with an episode that is not currently present and correct... And to encourage rummaging we could ask that the next Queen's Speech includes a provision for Draconian penalties for any collector who doesn't rummage and hand over missing episodes!?!

Lol it would be nice for the queen to even acknowledge missing episodes

Film copies occasionally turn up from time to time and I can't see any irregular pattern here (if there is one at all), so I'd say no.

I won't be holding my breath for "my husband and I were heartened to see the returned Web Of Fear during the year" in the next Queen's Speech, to be honest

Is there a gap in the market here ? Maybe someone should produce authorised 16mm prints of selected episodes for (wealthy) collectors. If they were made from the restored versions of the episodes, they might end up looking better than the original 16mm prints did ! They should have a system where they produce prints under a pre-order type thing. So they only produce the exact amount they're going to sell. It's either that or I'll buy a camera and make my own illegitimate 16 mm prints! I would love this.

You would also have to produce authentically rusted and battered film cans to house the dupes to really give the impression that you had real ex-BBC film prints! Preferably with labels that had the title scrawled on them in the hand of say, Chris Barry. I'm also getting an idea of producing a minature diorama of Pamela Nash walking towards a band-saw with a stack of Dr Who film prints under both arms, and to be sold with a exact copy, stamped by the film library of one of the documents clearing the episodes for wiping...

Richard Tipple: I had a super 8 evil print about a decade or so ago which I sold when I got a 16mm print-- I think for $200 -- so with inflation, £200 is pretty good price. Richard Bignell: Are you sure there were prints of DIOE (3&6) -- I thought it was either 4 or 5, and I've never seen a print of 3 or 6 for sale anywhere.

The information about the two DIOE episodes came from Mick Hall, after I published the '8mm' article in Nothing at the End of the Lane #2, so I'm assuming that he might have had some of the reduction prints in his extensive Dalek collection at some time. I've personally not seen any from that story, so it would be interesting to have it confirmed one way or another.

I got a DIOE episode from Mick back a long time ago -- it was either 4 or 5 (probably 5 based on what Richard T. says). So perhaps he was misremembering which episodes?

It appears there will be no resolution with this sale. After removing and adding it several times, the seller has not put it back up. Either a private sale occurred, or the seller decided to hold on to it.
