Hi there,
Something I have often wondered, would the repeat showing of Evil of the Daleks after the end of Wheel in Space have been from the original VT, and, if so, does this indicate that VT was generally kept for a year or more?

I would have expected more off-air sound recordings of radio programs to exist than from TV programs because, obviously, when you record a radio program, you capture the whole thing, whereas with a TV program, it's only half the thing, and you might not have thought it was worth doing it.

Have you noticed that if you place the episodes of The Underwater Menace in a table it looks like a sandwich, the missing episodes are the bread and the existing ones the filling inside And since we have, IMVHO, the best and worst episodes in the filling, I would call part 2 a nice piece of Serrano ham and part 3 a horrible rubbery piece of cheese. I suppose so.
Perhaps it was stolen by an Algerian Fish Frier.

We know of one orphan episode that is 'at large' in England right now, namely the final missing reel of Web of Fear, which went walkabout from the tv station in Jos. To be fair, we don't actually have any proof that it was ever in Jos in the first place and even if it was, and it was stolen, there's no indication that it's in England now. I thought we did know that all 6 episodes of Web were found. Did Phil not say that all 6 were there when he first discovered them? Richard

I remember when Tomb was found it was considered pretty much a miracle.
I definitely thought EotW and Web were miracles!
So, you know, miracles do happen :-)
Until then, people are always saying: "it'll take a miracle".

Barring another miracle (like Africa) I don't think any more episodes will ever be retrieved and I suspect the rest are all in landfill somewhere dotted around the place. It's now less about the hunt and more about being grateful for what has been rescued (imho) That was exactly the situation we were in before the miracle happened. Richard

Well, another year goes by.
This is also the time when I religiously re-watch Enemy of the World and Web of Fear, and try not to think too nasty thoughts about whoever has WoF part 3.
Anyway, I wish everyone a very happy Christmas, or whatever it is that gets celebrated on whichever planet you currently inhabit (we have to be *so* careful these days), and continued hope that the next time I bump this message up the bulletin board that we have something more to celebrate.
All the best

I don't think you would be breaking commercial confidentiality if you said that animating a missing episode would cost in the order of £10k, or £50k or £100k or whatever.
IMO. But anyway, no harm in asking :-)

On another subject, with part 2, this is the first time I've noticed the yeti models on the mountainside model.

Crowdfunding could operate as an advance purchase scheme. Contribute, say, £10 and get a £10 discount on the published DVD/BluRay. Contribute somewhat/significantly more than the purchase price and get listed as, say, a “sponsor”. There would be details to sort out but I don’t see any fundamental problems. I can. Crowdfunding would barely scratch the surface of what animations cost. What does it cost? Richard

But daleks are so sexy! :-)
I mean, I know, I agree. I just wish it were otherwise.

Masterplan, surely. I mean, daleks are sexy, somehow, aren't they?
But Myth Makers is the pick of the bunch IMO as far as missing Hartnells are concerned. Perhaps if they find the real Trojan horse or something and interest in Troy revives ...

Can someone tell me if this article is nonsense? (It isn't) - there fixed it Sorry, no. There is no 'Wheel in Space' DVD or Bluray. There isn't one planned. The missing episodes of 'The Wheel in Space' have not been miraculously returned and the article is nonsense. Good luck with your pre-order. I mean, to be fair to the original poster and others who might dream the same dreams, WoF and EotW were miraculously returned and we knew nothing about them until you announced it here and it appeared on YouTube. What I'm trying to say is that there is a precedent for miraculous returns which are kept quiet up until the point where they are ready to be released. Richard

The amazon listing must date back to at least September 2018.
