Wonder what became of the film from the Fury of the Deep can? And where was this film can from? Singapore? View AttachmentThere was an episode of 'The Ice Warriors' in it. But we don't think those four films were returns from abroad. We think they are the Enterprises telerecording editors copies. Except they have no cuts to them. My belief is that the missing episodes 2 & 3 weren't there because they had cuts made to them. Therefore, the films would have been sent to the negative cutter so that any changes made to the print could be made to the negative. Paul Hi Paul, Were telerecording editor copies made for every episode? Typically what would have happened to these? Richard

I'm a glass-half-full person too, but what saddens me is the thought that the only reason why my glass isn't completely full is because someone is holding the tap shut.
Please stop doing that - whoever you are!
And the reason I point out that I didn't start the thread is because the title of the thread no longer makes sense!

I think it's brilliant news. The first and most important thing is that something exists. On a scale of oblivion to on DVD, we're at 99%. 0-99% being not in existence. Ok. Thank you 😊 You should be a councillor. Richard

Paul's statement is the first time I've seen, in an unequivocal way, the fact that missing episodes exist in private hands.
Maybe I've been in denial until now.
Anyway, the information was really valuable, even if it has sent me into a bit of a depression.

Ps I didn't start this thread, I was sort of answering it and then post that started the thread disappeared!

What worries me, you know, is that I imagine someone thinking of giving something back, reading a lot of negativity on here and deciding, "Well, I shan't bother then".
So, take me for a ride again if that's what you're doing, but I still won't say anything but give thanks and encouragement because I'd rather put up with endless disappointment than put off a genuine recovery.

Being a "glass half full" person I'm going to be positive about this.
I've learned to put up with the false hopes, fake news and even hoaxes over the years, and I would hate to upset or put off a genuine return.
So ... hoping for the best! I'd love, now, to see something from Power come back, but Evil, Snownen, Web and Fury complete my list of 5 stories I'd most like to see returned.

The exciting thing from the potential find point of view is that it could, literally, be anything, if there is anything.
Condolences to his family, and also thanks to them for making his collection available.

There are other ways to make money which don't involve either bringing mysery to other people or witholding from them something which would make them very happy.
I don't want to resurrect an old conversation here but I, personally, would not lie happy in my deathbed thinking that this is what I'd done with my life. I would lie happy in my deathbed if I thought that I, at least, hadn't done any of this and perhaps even managed to do the opposite - i.e. prevented mysery or brought happiness - to some little effect if nothing else.

A couple of questions about Britbox in case anyone has some inside knowledge on this.
1) What are they allowed to show? I noticed Evil animation isn't on there yet, but I think everything else appears to be.
2) What are they using as a source? I watched Web of Fear on there the other day and was really impressed by the quality.

Presumably, the best bet for recoveries of this nature would be from countries which (a) showed episodes as late as possible and (b) had access to VCR technology as early and cheaply as possible.
Is that the UK or are there other countries which are better candidates?

A connected question, and perhaps the whole point of my original question, is, were we to find old video tapes of -whatever- format, would we be able to play them?

IMO, the best way to recreate missing episodes now, would be to first of all re-film an episode using, obviously, different actors, but try to get as close as possible to how we think an episode must have originally looked, then use AI to substitute in the original actors.
In fact, thinking about this a bit more, you could probably use AI to substitute costumes/monsters, props and possibly even sets, too.
I can imagine a good first trial would be to re-create the Yeti scene in WOF3 with as good a set and yeti costume as we can produce now, then try to use AI to make it look the way it was in the original episode.
