I was interested (and surprised) to see an extract from a 1968 edition of this long-lost children's series pop up on BBC archive the other day:
According to tv brain Tom Tom ran for no less than six series from 1965 to 1970, yet virtually nothing is left! I don't know if this clip from 26/11/68 exists in isolation (likely) of whether it's a complete edition (less likely). It was shown at 5.20, sandwiched between episodes of Circus Boy and Hector's House.

Fantastic! Really quite 'out there' for a mainstream comedy show. The musical guest spots were interesting too- Osibisa put in an absolutely storming live performance in this complete show (about 8 minutes from the start):
Such a shame the proposed Network release fizzled out. Do we know who the other musical guests were for the Comedy Machine series?

Just to add to the mix, how about this very charming b&w promo film for 'My Little One' from 1971 - one of their most overlooked songs I always think.

Not sure if anyone else has spotted these, but this uploader has domestic audio recordings of several TOTPs from 1969 in excellent quality, including the first colour edition, which kicks off with a storming TOTP version of 'Jumping Jack Flash' by Thelma Houston!

27th November 1969 (First colour edition)

Absolutely fantastic news! A couple of these turned up on Youtube and I've been keeping my fingers crossed that the series would see a proper release.

Excellent, thanks Matt. And a fuller description from BBC Genome:
Radio Times synopsis:
A last look at the 1960s
with Jimmy Savile and Sir Francis Chichester, Cardinal Heenan, Yehudi Menuhin, Malcolm Muggeridge, Enoch Powell, MP, Mary Quant, Arthur Schlesinger Jr and Thomas Barman on the Cold War, James Mossman on Vietnam, John Peel on the Youth Revolution and The Archbishop of Canterbury talking to David Sheppard, Bishop of Woolwich and The Bonzo Dog Band and Robert Dougall with the sounds and pictures of the news that was (Special feature on pages 101-106) (Colour)
I wonder if Yehudi Menuhin was impressed by 'Noises for the leg'.......

This has just turned up on youtube. TV Brain lists 'Ten Years Of What?' as being transmitted 28/12/69 with only sequences from the programme existing. I've no idea of whether this is BBC or ITV, or indeed anything about the show. Given the date, I'm guessing it's some kind of end-of-decade music/arts review. Anyone know more?

Very sad indeed to hear this news.
London Weekend's 'Meet Judith Durham' one-off special from 1970 is a favourite of mine and she closes the show perfectly:

Thanks for the replies chaps. Quite possible that it's from a surviving late 60s edition of Blue Peter then...

The sad loss of the great Bernard Cribbins prompts me to ask whether anyone knows the source of this clip, which features gonks performing the actions to 'Right Said Fred'. It looks like a telerecording and I've always wondered what programme it was originally a part of. I think I was first aware of it when it was either shown as part of TV50 in 1986 or on an edition of Windmill from around the same time....

I'd love to see Eli Bonaparte "Never An Everyday Thing", September 3, 1970. That's a good single! I have an original copy. I don't know why it wasn't a hit as it's a catchy number (as the young people say) and probably had a lot of Radio 1 airplay at the time.
A quick google reveals the song was already a couple of years old in 1970, having been recorded by both Granny's Intentions (great name) and Wayne Fontana in 1968.

The way the BBC keep trying to appeal to youth audiences who don't watch it anyway is lamentable. Agreed. It's a very poor state of affairs that despite the number of channels the BBC have, none of them cater for older viewers and listeners, who probably rely on tv and radio more than most. It's ironic that free licences for pensioners have been withdrawn yet they are now having to pay for output that isn't aimed at them!

Nice to see that EH's own channel has uploaded the complete pilot edition from his 1969 ATV series. Guests are Jose Feliciano, Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie), Dionne Warwick, and Tom Jones. Presumably made at Elstree as its a UK production crew in the credits.
Seems like more editions may follow...
