Well said! Thank you all!
I think Pamela Nash will need to be thanked too for creating the telerecordings so they could later be found.
As for restoration, for a show that was basically just being tossed into the trash for a number of years, the loving restoration done to the older episodes for the DVD releases is quite amazing indeed.

I was 15 in 1981, and have also followed the slow recovery of missing episodes over these many years.
However, a big turning point was the Africa Search that was officially started off on this forum on August 2, 2007 and that soon became a global search.
We have yet to hear the results of that search.
One way or another, when we receive the final accounting, we will get some clarity about what missing episodes survived and which are probably (with about 90% certainty it was estimated) are gone forever.
Personally, I'm optimistic. Before 2007, the missing episode searches were rather passive. T.I.E.A has gone out into the world and done a boots-on-the-ground search.

The search will always go as I have said above, but the Omi rumor is dead and buried. If it were true we would have had hundreds of hours worth of BBC and ITV programs returned along side Dr. Who not just Dr. Who. . . . Patience is a virtue. Painstaking global searches take time!

I know of no reason to consider the Omni dead, apart from people being impatient waiting so long.
T.I.E.A has done and is doing great work, so they should take whatever time is required for the search. It has been methodical, and that's why it has taken so long. If the reveal is a massive Omnirumor haul, that will be incredible, but if the reveal is only very modest, that will just be what it will be. Either way, I'll always be extremely grateful that the effort was made.
The only way I would have been disappointed is if all the films in Zambia and the other places had just decayed away to vinegar without anyone even checking if missing episodes might have been among those decaying films.
Happily, someone made the effort and went and looked … and looked just about everywhere! That's stupendous and went far beyond my wildest hopes. So, at the very least, we have Enemy and (most of) Web back as a result of this search, and we will also eventually know more about the missing episode situation.
Come what may, we won't have to worry that the missing episodes will never been seen just for lack of anyone accomplishing a proper investigation, because that investigation has been done.

And on your plate, your hat will also be ready for you to eat should a recovery from SL occur. Indeed I will. Btw I researched a lot of SL stuff from your site, was very informative even though you and another guy were the only ones posting. Thumbs up. Thanks so much. We stopped posting too because an official search was announced here. Who needs a grass-roots effort once things are really happening at an official level?

I think my hat can safely remain on my plate re SL. And on your plate, your hat will also be ready for you to eat should a recovery from SL occur.

"The recovery of these episodes indicates the possibility that more episodes are out there somewhere awaiting re-discovery" "We hope there will be more to come" Crap sake, why did they have to throw those lines in?? We all know how fandom will react... I'm never quite sure how to react to anything anymore. The rumors just keep coming, so it's tough not to read everything a couple of times just to see if someone is hinting about something. I look forward to the day when there is simply less to be perplexed about regarding the missing episode situation. I think we will get some clarity pretty soon, and that will be marvelous.

Hoaxers are vile and if you have the courage to confront them, they go on the attack against you.
I pointed out this individual's hoaxing after he openly confessed to it himself.
But we are all tired of hoaxers. There has been too much of it for far too long. I still think we should call it out when we see it.
Thanks to those who have gotten in contact with me. You've renewed my faith that there are lots and lots of decent fans of Doctor Who out there too.

Amazon UK tells me that they will review the user's activity on their website and monitor the account. Here is the user's profile page with DVD reviews: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pdp/profile/A2IHIH0D8FC5D1/ref=cm_aya_pdp_profileNote that the individual received the DVD of Moonbase early. Amazon UK tells me to communicate any further malicious activity. Just send me a PM with any further info. Thanks all!

Just make sure you wear your false red nose so we can tell you apart. Or your real red nose. Well, this is another picture of me, but it's kind of dark. It's on my real profile, not the spoof one. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pdp/profile/A1AFTXM00GIKYQ?ie=UTF8&ref_=sv_ys_4I asked the people at Amazon which they thought was the better picture of me.

Hoaxer

Post by Douglas Wulf on Feb 13, 2014 4:50:48 GMT
Hi all:
Over at Amazon UK, there are customer discussions. One of them is called 'Doctor Who DVD Release Schedule...'
Well, there was a guy who posted a hoax there and who later openly admitted to this hoax. His name on the discussion form was M.B.E. of Tooting (though he briefly changed his name to 'The Reviewer').
One thing about this hoaxer is that he gets early release copies of the DVDs and reviews them on Amazon UK, so that narrows the number of people that M.B.E. of Tooting could be.
Yesterday, when I again pointed out on that discussion forum that he is a hoaxer so his information is not to be trusted, he took the step of changing his online name to my name 'Douglas J. Wulf' in the discussion forum so that his posts appear to have been posted by me.
Of course, I have reported this theft of my online identity to Amazon UK.
I'm posting here also because hoaxers involving the recovery of Doctor Who episodes have long been troublemakers. Also, this hoaxer is someone being given pre-releases of DVDs, so someone here may very well know who it is.
Thanks for your kind assistance!
Doug Wulf (The Real One!)

At the end of the final episode of 'Enemy of the World', a special trailer featuring Patrick Troughton aired to preview 'Web of Fear.'
There is also the special trailer for 'The Ice Warriors' featuring Clent and Penley.
Has anyone compiled a list of these sorts of trailers, previews, and such (especially for '60s Who)?
It would seem as if many lost trailers could be recreated if mostly original footage from the episode was used for a trailer, this footage exists, and the audio still exists. However, some of trailers use specially shot footage.
Is there much known about what exactly these looked like, or can we only guess based on surviving audio (if there is any)?
In general, apart from discussion of missing episodes, there are also missing trailers, previews, or similar special footage, and I wondered if anyone has documented this.

I said this a little while ago about how polo was never called marco polo. And i guess people are playing a game their way. seeing as we dont know the rules i will sit out and let them play with themselves I will always remember the little thrill i got when Bruce Grenville confirmed to me on the phone that he had the first episode of a Doctor Who serial called "The Lion" that was the point i realised that the rumours were not a hoax...... and proof that we should always look for the episode titles on the early Hartnells and not the collective name..... Well, congratulations to you again on that find! I hope one day to hear the full story of the Zambian archives. I found that posting about it back in Dec. 2006 and discussed it over on Ian Levine's forum. Someone reposted it on this forum on Jan. 1 2007. The search of the African archives was announced here in August 2007. Well, I've been waiting ever since to learn the story, but we were told that we would learn in words, pictures, and video. Phil Morris' search of the archives was documented.
