A correction to some of the information provided in 'Change of Identity' - Issue 6 was made in Issue 7: "AUDIO ARTICLE CORRECTIONS Last issue, a short article was published on the Doctor Who audios. Unfortunately, a couple of errors crept in - apologies to Graham Strong. Firstly, Graham's audio recordings were only passed on to the BBC in 1994. They have never been used for any of the official audio releases. The BBC used copies provided by James Russell and Richard Landen. Secondly, Graham points out that the reason he doesn't have copies of the audios pre-Master Plan is simply because he wiped all his old tapes for re-use. So these stories were definitely recorded by Graham, it's just that the copies no longer exist." More info for Richard Landen - Disused Yeti - Issue 15

For more details about the fans & their recordings of DW audio of the missing episodes (and other stories), get a copy of Nothing at the End of the Lane - Issue #1 (July 1999) and read the article “Audio Dramas” by Bruce Robinson. see - www.endofthelane.co.uk/omnibus.html

The radio show on Lost Episodes from 2009 - you get it as a bonus disc in the Doctor Who Lost TV Episodes Volume 2 (box set also has Dalek Masterplan, Massacre, Toymaker and Savages). I actually listened to it again this morning - cracking stuff!! Thanks for that source - listening to it now & transcribed the section (below) starting @ 37:22 - with perfect hindsight (the capitalisation is mine). I cannot wait to hear the story of these recoveries. DWM can't come out too soon. Hoping for more! Shaun Ley (interviewer): Is there not though, a tiny sense of disappointment, that so far it hasn't yielded anything concrete? Phil Morris: Well, I would say this. I mean I don't want to go to much into detail because some things are ongoing, but WATCH THIS SPACE and time will reveal that one. That's just one for the fans out there, by the way. They'll pick up on that.

Is this available anywhere, DVD extra? re-broadcast? listen again? thanks, Hugh -- is this the programme in question?I listened to the missing episode program a few years ago on the radio in which PM voiced his disappointment at searching an African TV vault ( was it Zambia?) thinking he might be on the verge of recovering most of the lost episodes. His deflation at finding nothing was apparent but his final message was to the "fans" which was keep faith, I'm working on it. I'm so pleased for him that finally he found something of great historical and cultural value and that he is now getting the utmost praise for his efforts . I'm also so very grateful to him for filling our lives with such joy at this moment. Yes I would like more to be found and maybe right now he is working on doing just that, but lets take time to celebrate these recovered stories, which in all honesty I still can't quite believe we can watch any time we want to.

Thanks for all this - I'm drinking my "celebration ales" while my iTunes DL slowly goes forward - much happier than having to drown my sorrows!

The 1993 "return" of 10th Planet Episode 4 that led the BBC to make THIS CLIP was due to a hoax. I still wonder if that clip was ever used in a VHS or DVD release as an extra? A quote from from p 424 of the new edition of Wiped: "One notable hoaxer from the 1980s and early 1990s went under the pseudonym Roger Barrett. He was in contact with various people and groups over the years, from DWB, to the organisers of the TellyCon conventions, to individuals such as Mark Gatiss in his pre- The League of Gentleman days. Barrett was always claiming to have a copy of 'The Tenth Planet' Episode Four, but was seemingly reluctant to agree on what he wanted in exchange for it, and ever ready with an implausible excuse whenever required to produce any proof of his claims. He even tried to sell a supposed film print of the episode to a large number of people over the years, and in the early 1990s, this drew the attention of the BBC. At this point, Barrett claimed not to have the print any longer. Instead, he handed over to the BBC a Shibaden videotape, on which he said the episode was recorded. However, the tape turned out to be completely blank. Oh, what a hoot!"

In 1993, anticipating the return of the missing Episode 4, the BBC produced a special introduction for an intended VHS release of The Tenth Planet. The intro was hosted by Michael Craze and was recorded at the Longleat exhibition. It introduced the story as if it were complete and Craze invited viewers to "settle back for The Tenth Planet.” www.youtube.com/watch?v=udioDMIksCUDoes anyone know if this was ever used or included on an official BBC release? Or, did it just walk out the door?

Thanks for the replies/advice.
I called Library and Archives Canada this morning & there is a simple on-line application that needs to be completed to get a User Card. Then, once you have received that accreditation you can visit & get into the archival material.
Their recommendation is "You may order a maximum of ten items (i.e.: books, boxes of archival documents, video-tapes, etc.) and you must submit your request at least five working days prior to your visit."
I think that if I have some time next month, I will do that. When I asked about photocopying text based material, they said possibly if it is public (not restricted), but they recommended taking digital photographs of the material. Of course, you complete more paperwork for this approval and . . .
"Cameras must be attached to a neck or wrist strap, which must be worn while photographing images. Users must not stand on tables or chairs or place collection material on the floor to capture an image. Users must not place tripods directly on documents, or obstruct aisles in the research facilities with photographic equipment, especially tripods. Any camera or other recording device that is unsuitable for use because of its potential negative effect on preservation is not permitted. This includes but is not limited to flash photography and scanners. LAC reserves the right to refuse the use of any device. Staff will inspect photographic equipment for its suitability."
Don't you love it ! ;-)

Hi: We all know that a Canadian, Sydney Newman, then Head of BBC Television Drama, was involved in the creation of Doctor Who. After his death (1997) in Toronto, ON, his personal "papers" were donated to Library and Archives Canada - collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_archives/index.php?fuseaction=genitem.displayItem&lang=eng&rec_nbr=140326&rec_nbr_list=140326,2998678,2998676,3002285,137292 What is interesting is the BBC related material & I wonder if anyone has accessed them in reference to Doctor Who? Of particular note is two 40 minute film reels and one 40 minute video cassette. They might only be interview material, but it might be worth a shufti. collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_archives/index.php?fuseaction=genitem.displayItem&lang=eng&rec_nbr=140697&rec_nbr_list=140702,140701,140697,140696,140695,140694 Since I am about an hour south of Ottawa (home of the collection) I think I might take a day next month and have a look. Any comments?

HI George: Maybe I'm too gullible, but after the dust settles - I'm wondering what the 13 unlucky missing episodes will be?
