"nobody realised Fancy's real name is "Fancy Fancy". I didn't".
I fancy this is a reference to Nicely-Nicely Johnson,Ian,played in the Guys and Dolls movie, and on stage,by Stubby 'Delta and the Bannermen' Kaye,(IMDB give it as 'Fancy-Fancy').All very Damon Runyon.
Apparently,it was either a Top Cat ad campaign,or the Halifax was re-branded as 'The Bank of Bilko'...
Added: In a 1999 interview,Joe Barbera said: “I had one drawing of Top Cat on the desk and Ollie Treyz, who was an ABC executive, sat at the desk and he’s looking at it. He says, ‘What’s this?’ I said, ‘That’s a hit show, Top Cat, it’s like Damon Runyon characters, Benny the Ball, the Brain, and all.’ And I didn’t have to talk at all. He bought the show when I said ‘It’s a hit show.’ He bought the show on one drawing.”

Just seen the Halifax ad. Love it! Shame TC's voice wasn't a bit nearer the original but not bad at all!
