Tweet from Doctor Who Archive: Power of the Daleks apparently had a select screening a few days ago rumour says. Mobiles were banned, shockingly!
Hoping this one is true!
I'll beleive it when I'll see it I am afraid.

It is certainly possible, although we'll need to wait and see if this bears any truth.

It is certainly possible, although we'll need to wait and see if this bears any truth. Of all the stories rumoured to have been found, this one certainly seems to have been the strongest candidate for an actual find-and at one point THE only find.If this is true, then it would seem to have been a red herring. In fact,it was one of many finds! If the EOTW and WOF are fantastic examples of the Troughton era, then surely this is one of the greatest serials of ANY era.Even when listening to it's audio soundtrack or watching a Loose Cannon recon,it is a serial crying out for visuals! If this were released,I would have had my fill of missing episodes for the next year and strongly suggests why PM/BBC would want to market the finds at a snail's pace!

There's also the additional problem that if there has been a big find but they do break it up, people may start to sit and wait for "their" story to be released. However, the Omni-rumour varies in size considerably from story to story and it may be possible the story isn't back at all. A few they could get away with it, but after a few recoveries they are probably going to have to say what is and what isn't back. However, by that time it would probably be a fair bit into the new year and all the episodes should have hopefully been examined and checked to see what does and doesn't exist. Or there could be numerous recoveries but they are still on their way back in which case nobody knows truly what is back yet (which seems far more likely and sensible).

It wouldn't take long to get it to a viewable state (a few days at the most) although the restoration process does take a while, but there has still been enough time to do it in theory (although it is cutting it a bit tight). A select screening wouldn't need to be at release quality though.

These rumors would be easier to believe if the people said what source they got it from.

These rumors would be easier to believe if the people said what source they got it from. Of course it would, but unfortunately if they are telling the truth then they wouldn't be allowed to say who it was, however this could also mean they are lying. If they do say who it is though, then you can check that source and then tell if it is true or not. We need to wait and see, from what people have been saying there was supposed to be some sort of announcement about a week ago that got postponed (although this could have been about anything) and there is seemingly something else in the next couple of days (although again it could be about anything, and seemingly will be related to upcoming episodes rather than those of the 60s, but some say it will be both)

This is obvious bollocks. Not a chance. I am inclined to think the balance of probability swings in favour of your statement. It's probable it's impossible? I'd say it would need to be pretty extreme to have absolutely no chance, it's incredibly unlikely but not something that is outright impossible.

There are some missing episodes/stories just not worth hoping have been found for fear of major disappointment. I think The Power of the Daleks is one of those. I'm not even going to entertain the possibility that it has been found until proven otherwise. Stories, for me, like Marco Polo are fun to fantasise about because it isn't one I would immediately think of when thinking about missing episodes.

The big problem with "Power" is that there appear to have been very few prints struck However, we have three episodes of "Masterplan".

Do we know how many extra prints for each story were printed, or is it a case of just knowing they were sold on, so there are prints?

NOt exactly, but we know where they were sold to and who broadcasted them. If they broadcast it, they must have had a copy.
