With the animation for The Moonbase now pushed back to some point in 2014 alongside the release of The Underwater Menace 2 (in most likely a similar format) a campaign has begun to encourage the BBC to commission animation of the two missing episodes. The campaign has a Facebook page and can be followed on twitter with the hashtag: #AnimateCrusade. Do you think it should be released on DVD with animation? If so please help support the campaign as sometimes fan support for something can help make it happen (Vengeance on Varos). If you wanted to write a letter to the BBC in support of this or other possible future releases you can do so to: BBC Worldwide 33 Foley Street LONDON W1W 7TL United Kingdom Or contact via email: dvdenquiryline@bbc.com wwcomments@bbc.com doctorwho@bbc.com

It would be daft to just stop after UM when there's still one story left that can be animated. Sure, "The Lion" is in bad shape, but the thing is, we can see and hear it, and that's what matters. Besides, a lot's changed over the years, so it's surely possible to update it now with the newer technology.
They ought to truly consider Crusade more seriously, as its animated form would mean the first complete season for the Black and White era.

I'm pretty sure I read a comment by Steve Roberts that the Lion could be improved more but would never be perfect. I still can't believe this would be the only story after all these years that fits the two episode for animation rule that does'nt get released. Plus there are still some stories that could benefit from special editions (The Sea Devils comes to mind) so I'm having a hard time believing they are done after UM.

There are certainly some more Pertwee's that could be restored further as well as possibly some others. I think it would be really helpful if someone who has worked on the range would be able to share from their experience and opinion what could be developed further.

Out of curiosity - has there been any definite statement that they will not animate the two missing episodes of The Crusade? I do wonder whether this is jumping the gun a bit?

maybe its a case of the economic viability of doing this. Lets face it they may not sell enough DVD copies to get the money back spent on animation. It must be remembered that the BBC only get a small fraction of a DVD's selling price as the retailer takes a sizeable chunk and so does VAT. So even if a DVD sold thousands of copies it just may not produce enough revenue to pay for the work. Perhaps the future for animation work is through raising the necessary funds by crowd funding. That way those that say they want it animated can put there money where their mouth is so to speak

I'd love a DVD release of the Crusades with animation of parts 2 and 4. This is probably my favourite Hartnell story and it would be great to have it as a standalone release with special features.

In my opinion, BBC Worldwide, are just going to count their profits made over the anniversary year, discuss how much can be economically viably produced in regards to memoribilia and DVDs, then decide on what's yet to come with the range, and then begin production. I basically think that the future of the range relies on the success of 2013.

Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing it around Christmas I think they should wait until the animation for these stories is completed before there is a release date announced. This happened earlier this year with The Ice Warriors, with many people (me included) who were hoping to have it before now.

And with The Reign of Terror; it was originally meant to be around the end of 2012.
