Actually,I mean the big rumour and I only said 'next week' just to echo Ian's impatience.I'm hoping some big profile tweets will urge the BBC to spill the beans-about ANY of the recoveries!I don't know about you,but this is driving me nuts! But if this all turns out to be a load of baloney,I will never participate in fandom ever again ( but I know I won't be able to control myself-but hey ho )!

So long as posts are civil, there's NO chance of any deletions as far as I'm concerned!

Civil, mind - or the thread gets locked the moment this changes. Do remember that, everyone!

Interesting to note that the official statement is from BBC Worldwide and doesn't deny the rumour. It simply says they "cannot confirm any new finds."
Even if he were in the know, and considering the veil of secrecy there's no reason he needs to, BBC Worldwide have invested in animating Tenth Planet and Moonbase episodes. Any announcement now would kill sales of the forthcoming Regenration and Moonbase stone dead, and they really wouldn't want to do that. That would explain why it is rumoured that the official announcement is being held back until November and why Moonbase was suddenly rushed onto the release schedule when no one expected it.

Doubt the Beeb would be over-eager to play whack-a-mole with every rumour found on the Internet, no matter how interesting it might appear to a certain audience. Paul Vanezis et al are likely as eager to tackle with the Flat Earthers and Moon Hoax people, really. Who can blame them? The ROI is pretty thin. If there's something to know, we'll learn it when the time is right - regardless of whether that is currently being kept on the QT for sound reasons by the relevant parties. If there ain't, then what we've been told is all there is to hear. Seems about it, really.

Even if it's all rubbish, let's rejoice in the wonderful animated episodes that are coming out-MB,TP,IW to complete those stories. These make the stories 100 times more watchable anyway.I had ROT on video and never watched it.The animation at least makes me think of that story and makes it worth watching again.

Of course, given the nature of governmental and quasi-governmental organizations to have instances where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, certain people in BBC Worldwide could be kept out of the loop as well. You can't lie about what you don't know.

Given the definitive statement from Paul and the follow up from the beeb clearly there is nothing in it and, for Paul's sake, I hope people get off his case now and let him carry on being brilliant with the dvd range.

Or maybe that the supposedly recovered The Tenth Planet ep. 4 is still badly damaged, and would need a lot of restoring for it to be in a form worth releasing.
