Difficult one.So many people are afraid of leaving negative feedback because of certain retaliation. Last time I sold anything on eBay, sellers literally could not leave neg feedback for buyers, only positive. No retaliation from sellers possible.

Ah.Wasn't sure if it was Amazon or ebay.Maybe both.I notice that this seller, getting what seems to be his first negative, moans about "yet another buyer who doesn't read descriptions/send email about mail problems" or somesuch. It seems that bidders were prepared to overlook the record because of what they hoped or knew about the material on the tape.
Feels like Kremlin-watching.Frustrating that we don't know more.

Last time I sold anything on eBay, sellers literally could not leave neg feedback for buyers, only positive. No retaliation from sellers possible. Exactly this. I quit ebay due to a couple of buyers who were basically allowed to rip me off and then leave scathing feedback when I dared to complain. An utterly ridiculous business model and surely not a sustainable one...? Hopefully if there is anything worthwhile on these tapes they will come to light, although it is just as likely to be a bidding war between two parties, possibly both sure that the other knows something they don't about the contents of the tape Who knows.

In the old days, many were afraid of leaving negative feedback in the fears the merchant would retaliate with negative. I believe ebay has fixed that problem that prevents merchants from giving negative to customers. The opposite exteme though is that when people give negatives when its not the merchant's fault could impact his livelihood and also even get him unjustly kicked off ebay. Sadly when dealing with collectibles, things are not always in perfect condition, and something may sound just like what something wants in an ad, yet not be what they were hoping for when it arrives. Thats why a friend of mine likes to feel something before buying it. Onto this particular item.. Since the TOTP was confirmed not to be missing, and I doubt the swap shop would be generating the interest, Im wondering if the interest could be in the sting. Were there any specials on bbc, etc at that period of time? Also, when I look at he sellers other tape offering from last month, the top bidder was the e*2, who was outbidded on this last venture. offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p2047675.l2565&rt=nc&item=130781346442The question arises, is e*2 a customer who was very happy last month and decided to buy more, or is he a shill for the auctioner? I also notice that the auctioner offers a money back guarantee which would be interesting to see how that would transpire if the customer was not satisfied.

Are we talking about 'The Sting' the Paul Newman film about a scam,or Sting, the popular singer?
My own policy when selling items described as "could be anything, could be a blank tape" is to offer a full refund if the item isn't as described. But then again,I'm the sort of person who'd return someone's glass eye,if I found it.

Sorry,Pete. W.C.Fields. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEIUW5Rslrc It's about 5 minutes in. I don't think there's any suggestion of shilling,or any sign that purchasers of tapes are anything but happy.

Yes, my name there is I.R. Fincham. I'm the one who said: "If you really have such tapes I know some archivists that would be very pleased to talk to you."
He hasn't responded yet. Seems he's been off-line since then.

Who would be the most qualified person to contact him to discuss the matter?
Richard Bignell, maybe, or does he just do Doctor Who?
