This is a very short audio clip I found on a reel from what sounds like a TV show, circa Nov 1966. This is the entire clip, all 1½ minutes of it. rapidshare.com/files/1105184181/short_clip_from_a_tv_show_Nov1966.mp3It starts with The Zombies - "Goin' Out Of My Head", audience applause, the presenter speaks briefly with a member of the Zombies and then Spencer Davis Group - "Gimme Some Lovin'" I don't know who the presenter is, or what the show is, but I know someone will know.

It's not TOTP or RSG. Must be very late 66 or early 67. The Zombies single was released March 67. About the time Steve Winwood left Spencer Davis! Curious....

The presenter sounds like Keith Fordyce, although I can't think of any pop shows he presented other than RSG. Is it possible it's a radio programme? If the date is correct though, maybe the song was performed on RSG in advance of it's release as a single?
Edit: Gimme Some Loving was released November '66 and it's mentioned in the audio clip as being a new recording. So I'd say the date is probably correct and more than likely to be RSG - a missing item wherever it's from!

The Zombies song was recorded that month as well, but sat in the can for a month or so awaiting the orchestral overdubs. Unfortunately by that point, The Zombies were to be dropped by Decca so Decca were in no major rush to release it and by the time it was released, The Zombies no longer had a recording contract. So, very likely November 1966 this tape dates from... The Zombies are playing live in anticipation of the discs delayed release, the SDG are miming (or maybe it was an insert film)

11/11/66 is most likely if it IS RSG.

I just took a quick look at Wikipedia, which said November! I reckon it is RSG though. It's the only thing that fits the bill.

According to this page chartarchive.org/r/4279It entered the charts on Saturday 5th November. Records were released on Fridays back then, so it would had been released the week before on October 28th. If one looks at Beatles entries on that site, you see the chart entry dates are a week after the release dates which in the case of The Beatles are well known and documented but not always the case with many other bands. This excellent site is slowly piecing together a definitive 45's database... www.45cat.com/Much more reliable than Wiki!

It is superb. Been using that for around 3 years but it wasn't until it became fully interactive about a year and half ago that it really sparked into life becoming a definitive database that is continually expanding/ The amount of images and picture sleeves there is mindboggling. They're also very meticulous about release dates, using catalogues and release sheets from back in the day, plus there's a hell of a lot of great information to be found. Well worth bookmarking and joining up.

Was Fordyce still hosting RSG by that time? I always believed he was gradually phased out leaving it in the hands of Cathy McGowan though I'd imagine he returned for the final show.
