Good to see another episode for sale on eBay. Here's hoping this is the second of many more with the forthcoming ones being missing or of otherwise of value to fans, of course. I just started watching The Web Planet on DVD yesterday. I don't understand the hatred for the story at all, but that's a discussion for elsewhere. I wish there were pictures I contacted the seller this morning asking if they intend to upload any photos before the auction ends.

I contacted the seller this morning asking if they intend to upload any photos before the auction ends. Just had a response from the seller and they've added some images to the auction.

Ah! Nice. I see they went for the one with Hartnell covered in the webbing. If you need to sell a reel, that's the image to do it with. :3 Nicely dramatic.
What do the pros on the board think about the images? I wouldn't know how to tell a dupe from an original.

Oh, if it were something we don't already know of and seen!

I just had a look at the pictures - they're pretty small, so I can't say for sure, but I suspect that it's a dupe from what I can see. BTW - it's not the print i sold - I have been informed by the person who bought it that he still has it...
I can't recall if this might have been one of the prints duped in the 80s or not - Richard Bignell might remember. I think it's possible.

The seller has been convinced by someone that it's a dupe. I asked him a very vague question about the general quality of the print, and he replied by telling me he believed it was a dupe. I just wanted to know if the film was in good nick really.

I do - I bloody adore The Web Planet! ;D I've enjoyed watching TWP, even if some aspects are a little ropey. Some fans really hyped it up as an all time classic before it came out on video, & since then have had egg on their face. Almost the same happened with the repeat of The Daemons a couple of years later.

I honestly can't imagine seeing Tomb of the Cybermen in 1992 and being disappointed. It was fantastic beyond words to see, and I thought entirely deserving of it's reputation. TWP is bold, inventing, and yes, bursting at the budgetary seams. But what lovely ambition. I can't fault it.

Surely this is jest? Watching tomb in '92 was like getting a bj from Dianna Rigg. I always think it must be trolling when people talk about tomb in a dismissive way. My cat says i'm right too, so there.

Some DW stories seem to get a mixed reception, The Carnival Of Monsters is one that comes to mind.
Ghost Light is another that brings out strong emotions for & against.
In fact the McCoy era seems to been in & out of fashion at least once over the last 15 years.
With Tomb some fans have picked on the odd ropey effect, mostly during the Toberman - Cyberleader fight.

Surely this is jest? Watching tomb in '92 was like getting a bj from Dianna Rigg. You have just traumatised me deeply. Not at the thought of your avatar with his eyes crossed whilst Mrs Peel attends to Matters Below (although that's bad enough), but at the belated realisation that the id I've gone by on every site I use for the past 9 years may just have another meaning...

Tomb was one of the first classics I watched, having beeing introduced to the series in 2005. I got it on it's original VHS release from my old Scout Leader and to this day it remains one of my absolute favourites. Yeah sure the special effects aren't perfect but when where they. Plus it's a full Troughton story and that in itself makes it very enjoyable to watch.

Umm...it struck me the very first time I saw your username actually. I was just far too polite to make note of it at the time. And it's blended it's way into normality, to the point that I stopped thinking about it.. ... I'm thinking about it again NOW though ;D
