Please treat this thread as light hearted discussion, no more than that. I have Re watched the Sensorites DVD over the weekend. Whilst I believe that all Dr Who is worth having in existance, really I do, I began to think if I could swap these 6 episodes for any other Hartnell missing ones, which ones would I choose. (The 6 Sensorites episodes being the ones I'd choose to burn so to speak!) More of DMP perhaps?? For completeness I would go for Eps 2+4 The Crusade and the 4eps of the Massacre or The Savages.Hartnell for Hartnell. All a matter of wishful thinking I know. For Troughton I'd swap Enemy of the world 3 and Space Pirates 2 for Moonbase 1+3....yes neat I know but it would be complete.

I haven't seen that yet but I enjoyed The Ark. It's not perfect and has some, deserved, criticism but I thought that, generally, it was technically very good.

Yes...I like the Ark too.For the time it has some great ideas...not always realised by the production team. Not on my list for substitution.

For Troughton I'd swap Enemy of the world 3 and Space Pirates 2 for Moonbase 1+3....yes neat I know but it would be complete. Seriously? You'd swap the only record of Troughton playing Salamander for a cyberman episode without much by way of cybermen? ( Moonbase 1). Not a good call, imo obviously. That said, I'd happily lose the odd middle episode of The Dominators, The Seeds of Death or The War Games in exchange for representative episodes from Power of the Daleks, The Highlanders and The Macra Terror.

I'm a fan of McCory era DW, but Delta and the Bannermen has no redeeming features whatsoever. I'd swap that little lot for the missing episodes of The Crusade or Galaxy 4 any day of the week.

Hartnell? Get rid of The Web Planet and episodes 2 to 4 of The Space Museum and trade them for the 9 missing Dalek Masterplan episodes (no, I'm not counting that one episode prelude)
Troughton... Trash The Dominators, The Krotons and The Seeds of Death in their entirety (3 of the most tedious dreariest DW adventures ever made in my opinion) and replace them with Power Of The Daleks, Evil Of The Daleks and Fury From The Deep.

Isn't this a Gallifrey Base type of discussion?
(no offence)

Mmm...trash The Dominators,Seeds of Death AND The Krotons????I love those serials, especially the last one!I'd rather trash Warriors of the Deep,Edge of Destruction and the Resurrection of the Daleks/Image of the Fendahl-all of those are virtually unwatchable!Still, one man's rubbish is another man's diamonds...

Questionable thread but leave that to the experts.

I would swap any (preferably all) McCoy episodes for any missing Troughtons. I know he has his fans, but I can't get into his stories at all!

Agreed. I'd gladly lose ANY or ALL McCoy stories, most Colin Baker or Davison stories or many of the later Tom Baker ones and swap them for a few more complete Troughtons (Power / Evil Of Daleks, Web Of Fear, Fury From Deep particularly and the two missing Invasion / Ice Warrior eps etc.). In fact, i'd be willing to lose a few of the weaker Hartnells to gain more Troughtons, as Hartnell has plenty of stories to represent his era well (including most of his strongest ones). I might even be willing to lose the weaker Pertwees for this too. The situation would never arise, of course, but if it did...

In full agreement there laurence. Hartnell is pretty well represented all in all. I would quite happily swap the gunfighters for pretty much any Troughton episodes, fury and the yeti stories are particularly notable by their absence. Some of my friends really enjoy the McCoy era, but for me it was the point in my personal history that I actually felt embarassed to be widely known as a Doctor Who fan, something I had never experienced before. For me the entire McCoy era is one long clunker inducing much embarassment. Can we just swap the McCoy era for some chewing gum if no one is offering 16mm Troughton prints in exchange for it?
