Reading DWM's recent feature on this very subject I would say Marco Polo is most likely to turn up and DMP least likely. This shows that you can't believe statistics where missing episodes are concerned. ;D If I could choose what came back I would go for: The Myth Makers Dalek's Master Plan The Massacre The Savages Tenth Planet Power Of the Daleks The Highlanders The Faceless Ones Fury From the Deep The Wheel In Space It's an odd list I know but if we had these then every main character's first and last episode would be held. Nice reasoning. I'd like Power & Evil & Mission back. Not a huge list but it'd take us to 93... Oops. Missed out Evil of the Daleks and also I should have included Web and Invasion for the Brig and Benton.

Was this about the chances that certain episodes will turn up again? What formula are they using? What evidence is being used to arrive at those conclusions? Is this reliable in any way, or are certain numbers being pulled out of thin air? When one guy said a fellow named Gatiss was mentioning the missing episodes to The Web of Fear, I thought "Oh, no. Not another Web of Fear hoax." They were looking at what was sold where and stating where copies had been "bicycled" over to other countries where the info is known.

I guess they had to put something in the magazine or they might not have had enough for an issue that month.

That might have been a more promising avenue except the BBC contacting overseas stations with orders to destroy the prints really hurt our chances for significant recoveries from other countries.

The only thing one can calculate with almost 100% certainty is that when another missing episode is found it will have the words DOCTOR WHO in the opening titles. Unless the titles are missing.

I'd be more excited if something like Galaxy 4 or The Mythmakers turned up, as we know so little of what they looked like. Well... You got your wish, didn't you?

At this point, I'd be surprised if anything missing from Seasons 1 & 2 turn up.

Actually I think someone said the most likely episodes to turn up (if any) were the two Reign of Terror episodes. But one never knows what if anything.

I'm sure Tenth Planet (4) is still out there hoarded by a "collector".

I'm sure Tenth Planet (4) is still out there hoarded by a "collector". What makes you certain, given that it is only 1 of 106 missing?

He's not certain, it's a statement driven entirely by the desire for it to be true.
Unless he actually knows for a fact that it is being hoarded by a collector, which I suspect he doesn't.

Didn't it disappear after being loaned to Blue Peter, presumably kept by someone as a souvenir of the regeneration.I therefore suspect (hope) that it is still out there, probably lying forgotten in someones loft.

Given the circumstances over its disappearance it is one of the more likely potential finds in the future. However I believe that lack of records means that it may have gone back to Enterprises and could also have been wiped along with a hundred or more episodes of DW and several hundred other episodes of TV history.
