I've seen a still of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick & Tich on the show. I'm surprised that it never turned up on the pretty complete DVD GREATEST HITS of theirs. So does it exist?? A whole wealth of other clips have been seen or released recently including David Bowie, Hollies etc

As far as I know most of these shows are lost( Wiped out). Only a few survived in switzerland. Other Clips survived because used or shown in VHS releases or other shows. I have not seen a list of these shows nor a list of performances from Hit's a GoGo so far.

Hi Paul, At the risk of being pedantic, this was not a German but a Swiss pop music show filmed in Zurich and telecast on the national Swiss TV broadcaster SRG. People on the web also often refer mistakenly to this program as being Dutch in origin. Like you, I would love to see a listing of all the acts that appeared on the show. Cheers LD

I would think that Hits A Go Go exists in the archives as i've seen quite a lot of clips from this (both b/w VT and colour) and some are used on various official DVD compilation releases. I'd also like to see an episode listing of this show!
Interesting that the Nice clip is colour whereas the Bowie one (a year or so later) is b/w. Wonder if it was a one-off at this point? I bet there are treasures in that particular archive yet to be uncovered (i'd never seen the Nice clip before for starters)!

I imagine they are pretty thin on the ground, like the top of the pops episodes.
I have snippets from the BRmusic comps that came out a few years ago.

How do you make that out then? I've seen quite a lot of clips, suggesting a good archive from quite early on.

Would love to see the mentioned Bolan performances,a real rarity indeed. Here's hoping some of this material sees some sort of future release. Not to forget the clip sourced from Top Of The Pops of The Who performing " The Seeker" in black and white. Which was featured in a (unknown?) edition of "Hits A Go Go".Here is the clip segment, which also has the announcement intro intact: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPKEPbr_naA&fmt=18Also found: Michel Delpech - Pour Un Flirt (Hits A Go Go) www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLCSD0aOr-U&fmt=18Another Ike & Tina Turner performance of "River Deep" www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c8jBa4rdyM&fmt=18Cliff Richard - Can't Let You Go (Hits A Go Go,1975) www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R8gZNJ5RTA&fmt=18"Marc Bolan & T.Rex - "Hot Love" (German TV ยด71) trexmania07 4 min 52 sec - Mar 16, 2007 > > Sunday, 27th June 1971, Unconfirmed venue, Erbach im Odenwald, Germany, German TV, ARD SWF, "Hits A Go Go"Sunday, 27th June 1971" uk.video.yahoo.com/watch/1116545904/This was also listed in a search for Hits A Go Go which came up, had not seen this performance before.Great Material!! vodpod.com/watch/1376992-marc-bolan-laser-loveJoan Baez - Marching Up To Freedom Land www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkAG-jXmg34&fmt=18" This clip was posted a long while ago on youtube, but has not dissappeared so it seems.Have found the clip again on myspace/video. I was told a while ago that this clip may be from a edition of "Hits A Go Go" Dave Edmunds- I Hear You Knocking (Dec. 1970) vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=10203800Cheers,Lance.

Great clips Lance, there does seem to be a wealth of Hits a go go clips around. As i said it's a pity there's no listings around. Also This clip of Joe Dolan - Teresa - it has been spotted before but no one came up with a definative answer, is it from Top of the Pops or Hits a go go? if totp then what edition and how does it survive, it's not listed as held by the BBC. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLVeU0cobJ8

Looks very much like an early 1970 TOTP to me. A missing item?

If it is totp then it's from 30th October 1969. It looks like broadcast quality aswell.

If it is totp then it's probably from either November or December 1969. It looks like broadcast quality aswell. I've always assumed this is Hits a go go, but have no proof. I looks like the clips I have from BR Music. The pops would have had the studio full of dancers, not just up on stage. Unless it was a filmed insert to be used at a later date. Joe was so popular all over Europe I reckon HIts a go go!

You could well be right, Kev. Although the set looks similar to the style used on early 1970 TOTP (meaning slightly too late for the TOTP appearance of this song), the grainless clip looks more like it's from b/w VT (as much as you can tell on a filmised Youtube clip via a PC!) rather than a t/r, which would be the likely format if it was a TOTP item. The Hits A Go Go archive seems only now to be slowly letting it's hidden treasures out into the daylight.
Joe Dolan hasn't fared at all well as far as TOTP survival rate is concerned, has he (along with many other artists)?
