The polite reply should always be... Hi XYX: If you think you really have 'Feast of Steven' on DVD, send an email to... info@restoration-team.co.uk Good luck! Sound advice, I'd say. Re 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs', it surely wouldn't take long to discover whether this Betamax recording was the original part one or just the re-numbered episode two. I think 'Feast of Steven' is a safe bet for the gone-for-good pile, unless a viewing copy was made for internal BBC use (highly unlikely). On the other hand, I feel there's a better chance of a few more Hartnell episodes turning up than Troughton ones.

Sadly im inclined to agree with you. Hartnell is pretty well represented, and Troughton is so... well, missing from the shelves Heres hoping something miraculous happens.

Still, if someone claimed to have anything, the idea would be to direct them back to the RT folks.

Any further 1960s 'Who' recoveries are unlikely, alas, but with 'Feast of Steven' the odds are hardly better than on someone finding 'The Quatermass Experiment' episodes 3-6.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs episode 1 was never logged as or thought to have been telerecorded - but a 16mm recording did turn up!. So anything can potentially turn up.

IIRC, both 'The Time Warrior' and 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' were film recorded for potential foreign sales. For some reason, this wasn't widely known until relatively recently, hence the puzzle over the b/w print of 'Invasion' part one. As for further recoveries, I live in hope that a few more will turn up in my lifetime.

If more episodes turn up, they could turn up in odd and unexpected ways and just due to chance circumstances. I called a hotel yesteday in Hawai'i to make a hotel reservation for January when I will be there for a conference. I was transferred to reservations and happened to make a random comment about the differences in weather between Hawai'i and my home state of Nebraska. It turns out that the person making my reservation was in Omaha, Nebraska, which is my home town. Further discussion revealed that this person was the neighbor of one of my mother's former coworkers, so I happened to be familar with the exact house where this hotel reservation specialist lives. Soon we were discussing whether Helen (the neighbor/coworker) was still having trouble with her knee and whether she has problems climbing all the stairs going up to their front door. A random comment about Nebraska to a hotel reservation specialist that I assumed was in Hawai'i happened to lead to news about what's been going on with my mom's former coworker. Likewise, some random comment to someone about missing episodes or some out-of-the-way posting online of the list of missing episodes and the contact info to the RT might unexpectedly lead to an episode recovery. Thus, a very simple but potentially helpful strategy to assist in finding missing episodes is just to let people know about the lists of missing episodes here at this website and the contact info for the RT. It could work due to pure chance.

But, but , but
How DARE you. (Almost drowns in fallen tears) You have risen all our hopes with talk of having a potential missing episode on Betamax. You were a hairs breadth away from convincing, erm , naebody on here at all that what you said was true. I will agree that we are all geeks right enough!!
And i am absolutely postive that you are Matt noo, by the way.
Amusing.
