So lets get this straight.
You know there are 108 missing episodes, but you don't know what.
And you managed to record episodes from 1973 and 1974 on a system that wasn't introduced until April 1975.
Pull the other one!
Richard

Thanks for your time Liam s. Hi Liam S: If you think you have Invasion of the Dinosaurs 1 in color, send an email to... info@restoration-team.co.uk Check to see that the first episode starts with the onscreen title 'Invasion' -- 'Part 1' and not 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' -- 'Part 1'. If it reads 'Invasion of Dinosaurs', then you may have a color copy of the episodes that were renumbered in some markets after the original episode one was lost and then only recovered in black & white. That would be a copy of part 2 that was renumbered as part 1. A color copy of 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' that starts out with the onscreen title 'Invasion' is definitely being sought by the BBC. Good luck, Doug

Pull the other one! Richard Unless these are like Ian Levine's copies recorded in the late 1970s in places like Los Angeles and so forth. Although it is believed that Invasion of the Dinosaurs Part 1 in color was not shown in North America. Well, the records could be wrong on that point, I suppose. Apparently, Mind of Evil was shown in color in Chicago in perhaps 1978 or 1979, if those accounts can be believed.

HMMM! Like Richard. I am very sceptical. Invasion ep 1 was wiped about 6 months afer transmission so was never shown in the USA or anywhere in colour after first broadcast. However, I do believe that betamax was being used in the commercial sector and then became available for the domestic market in 1975 I have seen episodes from 1976 off air on beta. There is a vey slight possibility of this being true but these hoaxes always pop up on missing episode forums before the RT ever get to hear of it. Come on Yorky, proove me and Richard wrong!

Without accusing anybody, yorky123 writes and punctuates VERY similar to Matt101.
Just saying, like.

Thanks for your time Liam s. Bear in mind that Richard and others are only exercising caution as the BBC have been mucked about a lot on this type of thing. Having said this; I would always edge on the side of an open or diplomatic initial reply just in case. We know that the format material sarts on is sometimes copied over; Michael Palin had a wiped play from 1973 on VHS so this was obviously copied over later; so perhaps the Betamax were made from an original at a later date. I certainly wouldn't bin them; but rather than be put off by those in doubt maybe contact the BBC directly so they can assess whther the material is of interest to them?

Richard Errrrrr Richard....... I taped several of these episodes on betamax in the 80s and sent them to England after their New Zealand screenings....and i suspect a lot of australian fans did exactly the same thing so its slightly odd that you claim they couldnt possibly exist in that format....... not only that but Invasion of the dinosaurs screened here with an Episode 1 title as well (it was the episode 2 version as Dougwulf so constructivley points out below..) ive also seen publicity and read articles about the 108 missing episodes that never names them so its ALSO entirley fesible a non fan could know the number and not the titles.... I know youre erring on the side of caution , but if this was a genuine lead , youre been a tad rude about it.....you really should think outside the square a bit more...

I tend to agree with John and Neil. We're all aware of hoaxers but there's always a chance some valuable material is passed up due to cynicism. As John said, material could exist on ANY format - (things are sometimes copied over and it doesn't mean it was recorded on that format originally anyway) so let's give people the benefit of the doubt. If it turns out it isn't what we hoped for, then we're nothing out, are we? Politeness costs nothing.
