If you could choose to swap existing episodes for missing ones on a one for one basis, what would they be?

I would gladly swap all the McCoy and Colin Baker ones for the missing Hartnell and Troughton ones. And then I would swap all the Eccleston or Graham Williams ones for any other missing Hartnell and Troughton ones. My favourite era is of course 60s Who then the HInchcliffe Years and the Pertwee years.
But I would prefer it if all the Who episodes survived intact.

I think Planet of the Daleks for Power of the Daleks would be an ideal swap...

Also I don't think many would throw too big a hissy fit if I wiped, burnt or otherwise destroyed "The Keys of Marinus" if it meant getting "Fury from the Deep" back in one piece...

Ghostlight for ANY of the missing black & whites - except maybe The Space Pirates. In fact, if Ghostlight was declared officially missing I dont think I would be shedding any tears.A few stifled giggles maybe....

The question itself presents problems, as a hypothetical swapping of stories is somewhat defeated by the obvious - namely, that we've all seen the ones that exist, and so their loss in a hypothetical swap can never be as poignant as the continued oblivion status of eps most of us have never seen. By the time I was born, 1974, the junkings were well underway. I know I'll never get to watch Power Of The Daleks or Fury From The Deep or the rest of The Faceless Ones. On the other hand, it is also obvious that many of the missing episodes have an allure they don't deserve because we can't see them. And in the end, would you want your swap revoked? This will no doubt bring down a storm of abuse for my heresy, but I believe that if The Celestial Toymaker #1-3 ever turned up, the current 'It's brilliant' fan consensus would quickly turn to 'Oh my God, it's complete crap'. Going by the sound track, it's a woeful story. Of course, the visuals are everything, aren't they, so it's a moot point.
In the spirit of this thought experiment, though, I would quite cheerfully set fire to every copy of Time And The Rani, Delta And The Bannermen, The Happiness Patrol, The Greatest Show In The Galaxy, Silver Nemesis and The Two Doctors in existence if it meant getting back *one* missing Troughton episode. Hell, if it's Evil Of The Daleks #7 or Moonbase #3, I'll throw in Survival as well.

The Keys of Marinus is my all time favourite Doctor Who story so I wouldn't be too happy to see it no longer available.

I believe I said this at some time in the past, but to quote that master thespian, Charles Nelson Riley "The correct answer, Gene":
Anything for the 1996 tv movie.
(Though I would make a go for "The Marca Terror" for this trade)

My choice would be Trial Of The Time Lord Series for Marco Polo & Daleks' Master Plan

On the other hand, it is also obvious that many of the missing episodes have an allure they don't deserve because we can't see them. Well, some of us DO remember missing stories. I personally saw Power Of The Daleks, Moonbase. Abominable Snowmen and Web Of Fear. The quality would vary though; some missing stories were great, others not. I feel quite confident in saying that Web Of Fear was one of Troughton's best - possibly his best ever (easily better than Tomb, which is clearly the best of Troughton's existing stories). Anominable was also quite good and atmospheric. Power and Moonbase were weaker (in terms of how they were realised rather than how they look on paper), with episode 1 of Power being it's main attraction. So not all of us have rose-tinted glasses when talking of missing stories - there were clearly classics among them though, which (given that they are missing) is a tragedy. It would be comforting to think that all the stories which are missing were rubbish and that we aren't missing anything by their absence. Sadly this isn't true though.

Personally I would just like a complete run of pristine quality episodes from Hartnell to Tom Baker and junk the rest.

ok, if you had one opporttunity to go back in time and come back with something at a later date what would you do ??
personally i'd take a brand new DVDR or two and about 5000 DVDR discs and record all DrWho live and TOTP's, basically live out my days in the past, just in time to give the discs to the BBC to keep (in 2007)
