I wonder if it was broadcast live? I’m not sure when Auntie got their first Ampex machine and am uncertain as to how successful VERA was.

I once tried to contact them because I had a good suggestion for a little bonus feature, but no reply. It's easier to ring them - They have always answered the phone and Sarah is happy to chat (time permitting) I've spoke to her many times Tele : 01923 290555

From what I understand about the surviving 1950s editions, they did go out live. I got to see an interview with Peter Byrne who was talking about the episode 'Postmans Knock' saying that when the actor hit him in the face, he misjudged the punch and actually did punch him in the face, hence why he goes down with a fub and gets up looking proper annoyed. He said for a moment he wanted to lamp one on the actor, however as it was going out live he had to compose himself and go on with the scene. That's why it looked so good he remarked.

I suppose a compilation could be made for "accidentally real" punches. Manuel suffered one or two during Fawlty Towers.

Very pleased that any survive. Speaking of which, Rob Keeley notes "Evening, all. X is reporting the recovery of a missing Dixon of Dock Green from 1959, a year from which no episodes were previously known to exist. It's Duffy Calls The Tune, featuring everyone's favourite tramp, Duffy Clayton. x.com/Jamesh8/status/1762187262790336704?s=20 Apparently a film collector returned it to the BBC and they've given permission for it to be shown alongside the others on TPTV, on 30 March. Brilliant news." missingepisodes.proboards.com/thread/14559/dixon-dock-green-find?page=1&scrollTo=176694
