Enjoy? Oh believe me, I did! I'm a fan of Sandie Shaw and I've never seen those before. Did the Pan's People film performance clips set you off on a bit of digging or did you know about these and the Julie Felix clip already?

Steve This is fantastic Peter, I have your excellent book and can't see any references to these performances. Straight away I thought they have the same look to them as 4321 Hot and Sweet which I note you have down around the same time as as these 2 songs. Could they be the same source?

I was vaguely familiar with the show (for example I already had a 1970 Herman's Hermits clip), but, after a bit of enquiring, I found a friend had a couple of episodes.

I believe '4321 Hot and Sweet' was a studio based show (certainly T-Rex's appearance is), so these are something different, and completely new to me!

This performance of the Doors on 4321 Hot and Sweet (1968) is filmed outside (yes I know its Germany) maybe the earlier shows were more location based. It would be great if more of this show could be found being in colour! youtu.be/K7BuWRjU9CA

This is also apparently from '4321 Hot and Sweet'... and clearly filmed in London:

Does a comprehensive catalogue of ZDF German music shows exist? To me it's always seemed shrouded in mystery as to what they actually hold.
About 15 years ago I recall someone in charge with the surname Peck who defended the archive like a Rottweiller. When I made a general innocuous inquiry re archive status he nearly bit my hand off!
Even if progress has been made since then, i understand their footage is expensive to clear anyway.

Looking at the footage of Sandie and of the Trems makes me wonder if there can be anything more gruesome for singers than miming your single to (probably) horrible quality playback in front of a largely disinterested crowd of tourists and shoppers!

If only it'd been Sandie Shaw romping in the park a la Julie Felix in the recently-posted clip. Barefoot in the Park, anyone?
