Haha ....Sorry but I saw it ! It's not a rumour ...despite locating one missing episode and helping get it back people still call it a rumour ... (weather it survived or not is a different story ) but I'm still looking You mean your recovery of The Lion? Right? Not an episode of Macra? That’s what I assume, just the way your response was written left me confused there for a moment. I believe you though. From what’s been established films were shown and Macra still existed in New Zealand at the time. As a “sighting” it has far more credibility than others that have been investigated.

As Jon said, there were 'episodes TX'd from film [which] were of course kept by the film library ... They were the TX films despite also being film recordings'. This is what I'm referring to.
So my next question is: why were so many of the Season 6 serials in the Film Library?
A number of Season 6 episodes were handed over BFI, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. But this may account for the higher number of Season 6 film copies. (It's questions like this that make me realise we are missing something like a Waddingtons Doctor Who Missing Episodes board game. Be great playing it on X-mas day and trying to answer similar 'next move' questions after a few glasses of wine. The board could be the countries where eps went to. Throw 2 sixes to get into Africa etc... Or maybe not). I'd say that's almost certainly why we have so much of season 6. Of the five complete season 6 stories we have, three were returned from the BFI, The Dominators, The Krotons, and The War Games, and only one of those would be complete today if not for that. It's definitely the reason we have complete copies of the Krotons and The War Games. If not for the BFI we would probably be missing All but Krotons 1 and 4 and War Games 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 10. Those were the episodes the film library didn't hold.

What about those who say there is no Macra???

If only I knew which episodes were safe in private hands,I'd know which ones not to look for.

I also want to know the name's of the episodes but then I would anguish waiting to see them so for me its better. Besides if I knew then it would be a violation of what we call in the U.S. Navy OPSEC or operational security. Once you ell one person no matter how loyal that person you tell is sooner or later he will tell some one he "trusts" and so on and so on.
Ill just wait till we re told. The person who does know has a great weight on his shoulders knowing what's out there but currently untouchable. I see no reason to put any more pressure than he already has on his shoulders

You really do have to wonder how many missing episodes have gone begging in the past too. For all you know, you've driven past a car boot sale that had one being sold. Would also be interesting to know who on this forum has technically been geographically closest to a missing episode without knowing they were near to one (assuming there are any, of course).

Amongst the bric-a-brac and the general detritus that individuals wish to offload to other individuals, do members on this forum really think that there will also be film cans of 16mm ex-BBC material in a car boot sale???I can't see it myself actually.Has anybody ever seen one at these meetings?

I have twice found 35mm silent nitrate film right under my very nose. Once it concerned a lost 3 reel comedy with elephants and the middle reels of a missing drama. Two other times I saw it but couldn't buy. A few weeks back I saw a 16mm projector in a shop and it turned out the films that came with it had already been sold just before . But it should be noted that this is the harvest of decades. Hundreds of times I looked in markets and shops and found not a sausage. Non-missing American TV episodes aren't particularly hard to find either.
