Some years ago,one of my customers gave me whole load of rare posters and photographs relating to his time working with Tom Baker before he became Dr Who,for which I was very grateful. However,my overriding instinct as a Dr Who fan was to immediately donate the material to the offices of DWM.I realised that in my possession the material would either be damaged or eventually destroyed. So I wrote a covering letter and posted the material to DWM in a large envelope.Over the years,I'd like to think that all the photos of Tom working on that building site in Pimlico at the time of the announcement of him becoming the 4th Dr are from my donation. What I'm really trying to say is that if you're a true fan,the first thing you would want to do with rare and material of a technical nature (which can be irreparably damaged) is to give it to those agencies that will look after the material correctly and most importantly, give please to all the other Dr Who fans who view the material. If you don't do that then I'm not sure what your real agenda is.

Your problem seems to be in presuming an agenda.
Most of the time people are just living their lives.
Fanatical obsession is not a default status for most people with most things. Usually what's for lunch and how to pay the next power bill rank more important than what value someone else puts on some random thing in one's attic somewhere.

This isn't news isn't really anything new from Paul, tbh. I'm pretty sure he's mentioned in the forums before that he knows one or two people have missing episodes. I'm just sat here wondering what those episodes exactly are. Would there be any knock-on effect by saying "DMP Episode 4," for example. I guess there's always a chance someone could follow up on that handy bit of info if they did know the exact episodes in question.
Oh well.

Of course there would, especially if you are the guy holding "The Smugglers Episode 3". That's a sure fire way to utterly destroy all trust built up with them.

We like to believe the episodes to be recovered next are something exciting however keep in mind that the last two to be returned were galaxy 4 and under water menace. Very much appreciated returns but the key episodes people are dreaming are out there Whatever is found we will be all be surprised with.

Whatever is returned, released, restored, viewable, we will be happy with. Even a freshly unearthed 10 second clip of previously missing footage would bring rounds of cheers in this neck of the woods.

Any frame of footage from Marco Polo, Mission to the Unknown or The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve would be nice, so that they at least have some kind of visual outside of Publicity photos or tele-snaps. But failing that, the missing 12 seconds of "Checkmate" would suit me just fine.
