All this political talk on a music forum makes me think it's about time the BBC re-ran the 'Rock and Roll Years' and produce some new episodes from where the last series finished. So, that's 1989 nearly 30 years ago! Surely, it's worth airing on BBC Four at least. According to the BBC website, an episode was last shown in 2016 on BBC Parliament, I did not know that! Do you know, that's a pretty good idea. The 90's would be a fertile ground, grunge, Brit pop etc against the Major, Blair years. Bring it on.

There is a lot more footage surviving from the 80s and 90s than the previous decades so someone (hopefully someone who knows their stuff) putting such a series together would be spoilt for choice. There's the 80s Indie thing and the 90s stuff that followed, some of the more interesting/ less poppy dance music, UK reggae and hip hop, all sorts really. It would probably get decent viewing figures due to the usual nostalgia motives

I also would like a 1990s Rock & Roll Years, the 1990s I Love... series was made way too early so it would be a good change to make them with a real sense of history.

They could also fix 1967 with the footage of the All You Need Is Love satellite broadcast restored. It was still missing at the time the series was made IIRC, and represented by stills.

There are two completely different takes of Sweet singing Blockbuster from this show. One has Steve Priest with the Hitler tache and the armband more prominent. Looks like they then recorded it without the tach and shots framed to avoid the armband. If you compare them side by side they are clearly different takes.
There seemed to be a tape wobble plus a D3 tape dropout on the DJ link on the recent version shown on iPlayer.

Thanks very much for getting in touch with us about 'The Rock 'n' Roll Years'!
We've checked with the team at BBC Four on your behalf and I'm afraid, for rights reasons, there are no current plans to repeat the series on BBC Television.
I'm really sorry if you find this disappointing. If there's anything else we can help with, please get back in touch.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.
Best wishes,
Louise Morrison BBC Enquiries Team

Even the official Sweet YT upload has the Swastika Blurred.
Thankfully I have the Einsfestival and the early 90's BBC repeat copies.
Am I right that multiple takes exist for the performances? There is two versions of GG doing 'Leader' as well as The Sweet doing 'Blockbuster'.
