Where did we hear that he dug up films in a desert?
I know that some were dumped. I know that he may have researched it, but where did we hear he "dug up"

Here's to hoping the desert sands yielded treasure! As to the Fantom event, crossing fingers for PM to at least give us a trove of clues, tidbits, and points to mull over... things to discuss. Hoping it will be recorded (possibly transcribed) for those across the pond. I wonder if PM has considered carefully canned, prepared statements and a teleprompter knowing that each word will be dissected for content.

PM said in a recorded interview months back that he was told of a desert location with potentially favorable conditions where a station had dumped old films and buried them. I believe the interview stated his team went in the middle of the night to excavate, but no word on what if anything was found. I got the impression that nothing of substance was recovered.

I can understand the need to keep some of his work secret but it is frustrating that you never get to know what he has found other than Dr Who. I wonder if there will ever be a proper disclosure about his work and recoveries. Im also curious as to how all his work is funded. There must be significant costs in doing this work on top of the need to earn a living

He does say something about digging up dumped material. But he's deliberately unspecific. Also, we must not forget that it doesn't have to be DW at all; earlier he also found some Sky at night and Moracambe & Wise (luckily the latter was too far gone). He also mentions being artistic and not doing the same thing twice, so perhaps Web 3 will become part of a collage?

Im also curious as to how all his work is funded. There must be significant costs in doing this work on top of the need to earn a living. This has always puzzled me. TIEA must cost quite a bit, travel, incidentals, shipping, changing of storage mediums, etc... quite an outlay of cash, with little (visible) revenue. Even a non-profit, it doesn't seem to balance. Im of the mind that PM is doing fine not even counting the settlement from the Nigerian incident. I believe there is more going on behind the scenes, not just with funding, but with strategic management of his work. PM is doing incredible work, I tip my hat at the efforts and firmly believe there will be great things forthcoming. Kudos to all who work tirelessly in hard conditions to help recover and preserve the past.

There must be significant costs in doing this work on top of the need to earn a living TIEA sell equipment, provide data retrieval and conversion services, catalogue archives, etc. to help broadcasting companies maintain archives and ensure the survival of material around the world. This incidentally provides them with the means to check for British material while they are at it, but the actual professional element is preserving local materials.

For all the pictures that people have already seen, do you recognise the pictures used? The only way my blood pressure would go up is if I saw a still that I didn't recognise.

That would be a clever way to give away a hint. Just use a telesnap and take a still from a recovered episode about two or three frames after the telesnap and release it with a telesnap filter on it. You'd be pretty much giving the game away, but no one would notice.

Intriguing.... So long as it doesn't turn out to be an interview about a previous find. Not that each such find isn't a big success in itself.
