Just had a quick look at Owen M.D. on the lost shows website and was saddened to see how much was missing, particularly from Season 1. This was a show we used to watch and enjoy as a family, if I remember correctly, season 1 was much the stronger one, well written with good by-play between the main leads, with Nigel Stock as Owen and Joan Newell as his wife Meg who was, in particular a strong character. Season 2 was weaker as they killed Meg off and the program lost a lot as a result, so typical that more survives from this season! Does anyone know if the program was sold abroad and if so where? I presume that it must have been as tele-recordings were made. Let's hope that some more episodes turn up. The surviving episodes with those from the original series, The Doctors might make a good BFI release. Oh, and not to forget it had one of the most memorable theme tunes of the 1970's Sleepy Shores by Johnny Pearson.

Holdings start from series 2 where Owen is trying to cope with life after the death of his wife at the end of series 1. The existing TOTP clip of Sleepy shores appears to reuse what I recall as footage in the original titles of rolling green hills. This sequence was not used for series 2 though the music was the same and I think the titles typeface.

Thanks for the info John. According to lost shows Alison Pt's 1 & 2 from Season 1 exist on B&W TR. IIRC this may have been about a story about an ill traveller girl who it turns out never had her birth registered, and the problems this causes, although I could be confused with a different storyline. Lets hope something more turns up from Season 1, however unlikely.
