Hmm, similar to the original email received from the BBC when asked about the release date for the UM. Would suggest that it says very little.

Tweet from BBC Worldwide twitter account BBC Worldwide @bbcwpress 5h We're hoping to release more classic Doctor Who and we'll let you know when we have news. More in the sense of "new" or "repackaged",I wonder?

Disappointing as hell that The Underwater Menace has been cancelled, but since 2/e was taken out of the picture, this move is not a complete surprise. If I was betting money on it, I was starting to expect something like this. So much for that "Coming Soon" trailer.

I suppose as BBCW are a purely commercial organisation, disappointing as it is this decision is no surprise, sadly 2E seemed to have more of a public service ethos about what it did and will be sadly missed.

(As well as the BBC Archive...?) I read the above tweet as an intention for something far greater than one ep. of UWM.

(As well as the BBC Archive...?) I read the above tweet as an intention for something far greater than one ep. of UWM. I wish other stories would turn up, but they could be talking about a special edition where Episode 2 of The Underwater Menace would be included with a Troughton story that has already been released before. Kind of like having the Galaxy Four episode on a special edition of The Aztecs.

As John says probably repackaging existing material. They've used deliberately vague wording in the tweet which is a shame as it will just fuel speculation again.

I was reading that someone saying that BBC might be repackaging their dvd's since 2/Entertain is out of the picture. I would like to see a new LOST IN TIME COLLECTION. Maybe LOST IN TIME COLLECTION 2.

The golden era of Dr who dvd is the Dan hall era.
We didn't get every thing we wanted (shada restored for example) but we really got a lot of restoration

That seems a bit odd after a cancellation ? We will see....... Perhaps they are timing it to coincide with the Undersea episodes 3 and 4 of the New Series? As you say We shall see ....

I think it's pretty damn hard to hack the BBC Shop, so, as this has come directly from the BBC itself, I'm classing this as "It's going to be released next month"
