Hopefully it's released with animation. With 2/e out of the picture and the BBC's plans for this release changing almost every six months, I don't think we are going to see any animation anytime soon. In terms of doing business, a couple of years can pass from the time the BBC approaches a company to animate a story and we get the finished product. If the BBC and another company have to start over again from the beginning concerning animation for The Underwater Menace, then are we talking 2016? 2017? 2018? This isn't looking good for The Underwater Menace or The Crusade.

Whatever the issue is with the Underwater Menace DVD i hope its gets sorted soon.
After all the work Paul Vanezis put into recovering episode 2 for us its gutting that it continues to sit in the archive.

This hold-up makes absolutely no sense. We can't be the only people who want to see it, can we?

We keep moaning (myself included) about this story's non release. We don't know the reasons why which makes useful suggestions difficult. However, instead of being continuously negative let us try to help BBC Worldwide. What do we know? A stand alone release does not appear to be an economically viable option. How can we make it viable? How many units need to be shifted? If it can't be stand alone what else can we add? Ideally fans want all remaining stories with some form of reconstruction added - again thought to be too expensive. Let's try lateral thinking. Broadcast on BBC 1, 2 or 4 an update of missing episodes from the archive covering not only Dr Who, but also Dad's Army, Not Only, etc. And as examples show recent episode finds. This would not only advertise our cause but be an excuse to air Underwater Menace. In an ideal world these programmes could then be released either as a box set of interesting missing programmes or a series like ITV Look In sets. That should appeal t a larger market than just Who fans. Especially if the colourised episodes of Dad's Army and Are You Being Served were included. If this idea is not acceptable how would YOU market Underwater Menace?

Sorry it's me again with another suggestion that I know would only happen if someone (Steven Moffat?)showed some true imagination and enterprise. Include all missing episodes as part of the current Doctor storyline!? The 12th Doctor is unwell. He keeps jumping about in time. Pictures of 1st and 2nd Doctor appear on the scanner. He mumbles to his companion that parts of his past are disappearing. It threatens his very existence. The only solution is to go to the time vault. Having set the controls the Doctor collapses on the Tardis floor. He wakes to say the missing segments of his past have to be relived, reconstructed. The earliest segment begins on the slopes of the himalayas.... we then have a simple recontruction of Marco Polo with either The actors (Or similar) from an Adventure in Time and Space e.g. David Bradley. At the end we return to the 12th Doctor before beginning a reconstruction of the Dalek Masterplan. and so it goes on concentrating on completely missing episodes (Hartnell then Troughton). This series of retro stories could run in the months the main, current Dr Who is not on screen. There could be several series. And of course there could be highly marketable DVDs. I am an optimist of course. Done with more imagination than I've got it could work. and getting back on track, some where Underwater Menace could be reconstructed with the actual episodes as DVD extras.

However i think it will either be released as a download when this BBC store thing opens or we are going to have to wait to see if another missing episode is recovered in the future. Not very positive i know but that's the BBC for you, they never listen to what the fans want.

Great idea. But keep in mind that we're talking about the guy who called Tom baker an old man in day of the Dr.and who left out the rest of the classic Dr's. Don't expect him to think classic who is relative to our society. I would love Bradley to Re-Do all the lost classics in exactly scene for scene filming. Not the Power new version which is not the way if it is to be done.

Just had an email regarding the Change.org petition. Apparently the DVD release has been officially cancelled by BBC Worldwide, "The Underwater Menace" DVD Officially Cancelled 25 Jun 2015 — It's been nearly two months since we handed off the petition, and BBC Worldwide's response can be best summed up using a quote from "The Underwater Menace" itself: "No answer. Sad." As you may have guessed from the lack of any updates, we've had nothing but radio silence from BBC Worldwide and the future of "The Underwater Menace" on DVD has remained frustratingly uncertain. However, Issue #488 of the BBC's official Doctor Who Magazine released today and finally offered solid confirmation regarding the future of this release. Unfortunately, I have to report that it's not good news - it seems BBC Worldwide have made the decision to cancel the release outright, leaving the Doctor Who DVD range just one episode short of being truly complete. To everyone who added their voices to help support the release - thank you once again. The petition may not have worked, but at least we gave it our best shot. To anyone who still wishes to see this released - all I can suggest is to continue voicing your desire for this release to BBC Worldwide using any of the following methods: • Send a letter stating your support to the following address: BBC Worldwide Ltd Television Centre 101 Wood Lane London W12 7FA UK • Send an enquiry about the DVD to BBC Worldwide using their online contact form: www.bbcworldwide.com/contact-us.aspx• Send a tweet to @bbcwpress, @classicdw and/or @bbcdoctorwho stating your support for the release, including the hashtag #SaveTheFishPeople. Thanks again to anyone who helped support this campaign. #SaveTheFishPeople
