I remember the statement by the BBC about Bunter after the episode.

It is perfectly possible others took telesnaps. I, as an ordinary viewer took a series of photos of the Prisoner opening sequence. Another series of the last episode Fall Out. Later I took photos of several episodes of Thunderbirds. It was fairly easy to do by setting the correct shutter speed. Alas I didn't have the correct camera in the sixties or I would have screen snapped much of Doctor Who. Alas I didn't. So there may well be other independent screen snappers.

If you actually watched the famous Feast of Stephen as I did it was in my opinion nowhere near as good as many people think. So Often this episode is taken out of context as an individual episode. Understandably as it bore little relation to the episodes either side. As I watched it I found it confusing and silly. Everyone seemed to be out of character and not taking it seriously. I know it was meant to a joke, a bit of fun but it wasn't really. I'm sure if the episode is ever recovered it may prove to be a huge disappointment. Alas you actually had to have seen to understand why. One day I hope to be proved wrong.

i think David Bradley would be fine for Hartnell and I think remakes to the original soundtrack would be satisfactory. Dear Patrick was a wonderful unique performer and would be very difficult to replace. Difficult but probably not impossible. If you accept animations then what is the problem with remakes. What ever approach in the eyes of the general. money paying public I would have thought remakes should work.

Brilliant! You have got it spot on here. This ties in with my memories of this repeat clip exactly. Well done. Probably still doesn't help us recover the clip but at least you've restored my faith in my memory. Thanks and speak for the delay in replying

Paul, this is fascinating. I am too young (then 5) to remember Bleak House but what truly great find. Dickens adaptations form my memories of mainly sunday afternoon television. I think the earliest serial I can recall was the early sixties adaptation of the Old Curiousity Shop. Was the brilliant Patrick Troughton in that as Quilp? (Talking of Troughton when oh when will we get a DVD of Paul of Tarsus?). You also mention Susan Hampshire's Katy. I remember Katy on a swing in a barn, falling off, being hit by the swing and lying unconscious. I missed the next episode so never did find out what happened to her. Keep finding the lost treasures of television Paul.

i have a special interest to see episodes of the Troubleshooters - from 1980 to 2001 I worked for ESSO/EXXON as a research scientist. I did visit oil fields in Houston and saw crude oil being pumped out of the ground. I visited the giant refinery at Fawley many times. A lot of the work from day to day was quite mundane but there were also some exciting interludes. It was a really great company to work for. The major work I was involved with for many years was improving the cleanliness of diesel fuel. Please don't believe all you may read in the papers or accept all that is written by the current government. Modern diesel fuel is no where near as harmful as reports claim. Lets hope more missing episodes are found and released on DVD in the near future.

Ah the Troubleshooters. One the huge flagship shows on BBC by the time it reached the early seventies but now, like Secret Army, largely forgotten. Shame. They did start releasing the remaining episodes about a year ago but as usual have stopped. And now the death of one of this country's great actors Robert Hardy. In his TV tribute last night no mention of the Troubleshooters. A few bits of trivia. Hardy:said mum used to live in Bishops Cleeve where I now live. Robert was a frequent visitor. In the 1980s I was friends with Chris Carson son of John Carson another big star of the Troubleshooters. The theme tune was written by Tom Springfield brother of Dusty. Let's hope the sad passing of Robert Hardy might create renewed interest in the Troubleshooters.

Can I just add to my slightly negative comment about PV. He has graciously contacted me. I should have pointed out that when I contacted PV about my Apollo audio tapes he was very busy compiling a brilliant programme about the moon landing for BBC 1. His reply probably reflected his focus was more on the programme. Sorry Paul if I gave a damaging impression. John

Grasping as ever at straws and aiming a shot in the dark. Patrick Troughton was in many programmes in the 1960s and 70s. Has his family ever been approached to see if, by any stroke of fortune he had any of his episodes at home? Thinking of the joy for his sons David annd Michael (also actors) sat watching the Evil of the Daleks with their Dad? Not once but several times.

On this slightly morbid subject. That particular morning my father socially aware me before 08.00 with cup of tea and the terrible news that John Lennon had been shot and died. At that time I slept next to my open reel recorder which was directly connected to a radio and TV. Shocked I immediately turned the radio on and began recording to catch News and subsequent reaction. Using an electronic timer I recorded various Lennon items through out the day mainly audios from the TV. I think I have the soundtrack to Nationwide amongst other progs. Alas I found the whole event very distressing so I have never listened to the tape. I still have it. may be after all this time I should try and play it again. Does any one know if anything "important" in missing terms I should be looking for? I know I am not alone in saying that grief filled day robbed all of us of our childhoods. A truly great man was gone. the dream was over.

This is an interesting thread to me for number of reasons. First in 1969 I lived in Abingdon which is only a few miles from Britwell Cum Sotwell (see beginning of thread). 18 months I left Oxfordshire after living in Didcot for 15 years. The very next village is Britwell. I used to make direct line recordings of TV soundtracks onto open reel tape using a phono socket my brother soldered onto our TV. Among recordings I made was large chunks of Apollo 11 at 7.5 ips. I still have those sound recordings. About 15 years ago I transferred them to CD. The actual landing on the moon with tense interjections from James Burke and Patrick Moore remains one of the most electric moments I have lived through. If only the video can be recovered it would be mega brilliant. Another little detail. Open reel tapes were also usually sold in card boxes with an internal plastic bag. And that's how my tapes remain preserved. Sadly my main open reel recorder has stopped playing. I have inherited an old American machine which is working after a fashion. I am try to locate the sounstrack I made to the 1969 version of Triton but I fear it was accidentally erased. Final point. I did offer my Apollo 11 tapes to someone senior (PV?) on this site but got a slightly dismissive reply saying audios of this event weren't needed. No investigation to find what else I may have. If I had offered 90 odd missing episodes of Dr Who and got that kind of response I would have kept the lot to myself. Lesson to be learnt:- If you are offered any kind of recorded material please be careful how you respond. Hope the Apollo 11 video can be unlocked and replayed. It would be a small step for a recorder but giant leap for Missing Episodes!
