Thank you, that would be really interesting. I am in contact with Mary and her daughter Diana. I wonder if they might have any material related to Francie and Josie. I'm interested in Mary's life and career. Thanks also for sharing the cuttings, as the one with Mary Lee was nice to see (page 1 - missingepisodes.proboards.com/post/121636/thread). I don't think her performing arts school transpired. A Francie and Josie tribute act has been performing in Scotland in recent years. Mary donated Jack's old red Francie jacket to the Glasgow Pavilion, I think. The lack of archive material for the show doesn't help, but it sounds as if Francie and Josie were pretty big in Scotland.

That's really interesting that you are in touch with Mary lee and her daughter Diana.
Could I ask you a favour ? is it possible you could make Mary lee and her daughter aware of this thread ? and ask them if they would consider helping me fill in gaps in my research?
If you could that would be very much appeciated.
I'm glad you like the cuttings on this thread
I've not seen the Francie and Josie tribute act I must try and see them someday.
That was very generous of Mary to donate Jack's old jacket to the Glasgow Pavilion
Finally, it is tragic that there is no footage of the TV show left. Unless some crops up someday

Jack's wife was in the show...and so was Rikki's! Ethel Scott appeared in several episodes.

I think the third gentleman in the picture is Tony Roper (The Steamie, Rab C. Nesbitt) long before he became famous.

Mary Lee died on 13th March, aged 100. The Daily Telegraph obituary mentions the series: "Encouraged by Mary, Milroy would go on to become a favourite with Scottish theatre and television audiences as “Francie”, the naive and gullible Teddy Boy foil to Rikki Fulton’s sardonic wide-boy “Josie”, in an enduringly popular comic double act. In the early 1960s Mary would appear as Auntie Jessie in the Scottish Television series The Adventures of Francie and Josie." www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2022/03/22/mary-lee-singer-comedienne-became-leading-light-1930s-variety/

Sad news but for Mary Lee to reach the age of 100 is remarkable. May she R.I.P.
Thanks for posting this article
