How many episodes(if any) of this classic show are missing from the archives?

The survival rate of these sort of shows doesn't look too good, but this one iis fairly late in the day, so may be fully intact.

Indeed thesurvival rate of this show is likely to be high. When Challenge TV screened a batch of episodes some 7 or 8 years ago, they were what appeared to be the earlier editions from the late 70s when the girl assistants were forced to wear dumb spectacles! I have one episiode featuring Liz Fraser where they played a silly game throwing giant syringes at dummies bottoms!
I didn't see any later editions since I presume Challenge only acquired a batch consisting of earlier ones. I can only assume they still exist somewhere in the YTV vaults.

I know they've shown episodes from 1984-7, too. When Ted Rogers died Challenge held a 3-2-1 Night, which featured an 'A-Z of 3-2-1', and the last regular episode, not counting the Christmas celebrity special that year.
Funnily enough, they used to cut the Yorkshire frontcap off the 1984 episodes, where it used to fly into Dusty Bin, but not the 1985 ones.

Do any 'Mr and Mrs' episodes ever show up on Challenge ?
I've always wondered how much survives from this series as my long deceased Great Aunt and Uncle appeared on this in around 78-79 and the episode was repeated a couple of times over the next year or so. It would be great to get a copy of this (even though I was a little dismayed that even though they had been married for 50 years, my great Aunt claimed not to know if her husband had a preference for slippers or sandels around the house).
I wonder if TV companies ever get requests for copies of shows featuring long lost relatives ?? I might get around to contacting Border one of these days....

Would they send you tapes just because your great aunt Mildred was a contestant?

Would they send you tapes just because your great aunt Mildred was a contestant? I did once hear that the BBC were more 'favorable' towards supplying archive game shows to members of the public if they featured close relatives etc.....

I recall reading about a local man when I lived in Grimsby years ago, who was featured on "The Generation Game" several times doing the demonstrations. He reappeared on the show in the 90s' and in his interview, he said that the BBC had given him a videotape copy of the few original shows from the 70s that he had appeared in.

My uncle was a dancer on every early episode of TOTP, so maybe they'll send me the lot? ;D

Doesn't ted rogers come on here quite often?

That's not the same guy. The real ted Rogers sadly passed away a few years ago. This "ted rogers" is most likely an imposter

Which begs the question of how the BBC (et al?) verify that a person 'involved' in a particular programme is telling the truth? Particularly a long-deceased person.

How vague exactly can the connection be for you to request a tape of a show?

I assume it would have to be at least a blood relative.
