Dads Army Magazine 'Pilot episode'

I have just seen on TV that there is a dads army magazine coming out this week and the first issue comes with the "pilot" episode of dads army on DVD. Is this the same as Episode 1 on the DVD series 1&2 or is this a different version?

They must mean the first episode as transmitted. There are fragments surviving of the original cut of that episode (the action is the same, but there was a different end title sequence, and the caption with the bank name was changed) but not the whole episode as originally recorded.

it is just episode 1, then they skip all the b+w eps and move on to colour.

I never subscribe to partworks once I've worked out what the total cost is.
I may buy the first one at W.H.Smith's which is at a special price!

but, youre better off collecting the complete series
(the non partwork ones)

ie Series 1, 2 &3, and Series Four

though with the partwork series of you subscribe you do get extra Cds & DVD's free, binders, boxes and mugs

now, as this IS a BBC Enterprises Collection, surely they could do a TOTP series, now that would be worth collecting

it's all included on the "complete series" BBC DVD's

i checked

"if they included the missing bits"

xmas night with the stars etc it would be worth it

ill wait for the Series 5........... etc (£130 for this set)

You're right. When I saw the advert, the spines are numbered up to twenty-seven. I'll be buying the BBC season releases because they're much cheaper, have bonus features and will ultimately take up a lot less space!

And the BBC season releases are in chronological order unlike the jumbled mag versions...
