Some of you are probably aware that for the last 3 months, a BBC "Sky At Night" magazine has been published. Its agood read and comes with a bonus CD-Rom featuring an mpeg file of "The Sky At Night" from 2 months previous.
The latest edition which has just come out has a second bonus CD-Rom which will be of interest to some who read these pages. This disc contains in Quick Time format 2 gems from the archives... From 1961, the infamous 50th edition where an attempt to show live pictures of Saturn was foiled and from 1969, a 40 minute colour documentary hosted by Patrick Moore entitled "Can You Speak Venusian?" which has him chatting to some eccentrics with unorthodox views and opinions.
Whats more this is apparently just the beginning for in last months edition of the magazine, they said that they were very likely to release more vintage "Sky At Night" shows from the archives with the magazine in the future.
Though I would have preferred DVD format, it is nice to see some archive TV of "minority" interest being given a release.
