After the great news of the discovery a few questions popped into my mind
Did we know that the missing episodes were shown here
If yes did we know they came from Hong Kong
What others may have been in this batch
Where should they have gone after

This could be an isolated case, but no doubt this occurrence will influence how episode hunters think. I'm sure the phrase no stone left unturned is a good one.

Of course if there are any episode collectors holding on to odd episodes, and it's entirely hypothetical that there are, then a big find like this should make them nervous, particularly given that there is a *company* out there looking to repatriate missing episodes (among other activities, I know), that they've just had a remarkable success, and that they're still at it.

Richard I was keeping an eye on a well known auction site this week just incase any of the rumoured found episodes suddenly became available prior to the announcement with collectors trying to cash in before their property dramatically lost its value!

Question in my mind is where did the copy of episode 1 of Web of Fear that's been at the BBC for many years come from? My recollection is that it was believed to have been returned from Hong Kong, but presumably that is less likely if the copy from that country ended up in Nigeria.

I understand that this was part of a massive batch that came back from Australia in 1975. Sue Malden found it amongst a load of films that had come back from Hong Kong in 1978. It's likely that someone had picked it off a shelf for some reason and put it with the Hong Kong batch. It's heartbreaking to look at the Australia returns in 75 and to think of the destruction that would take place over the next 3 years

On another thread it was confirmed that Abominavble Snowmen and The Wheel in Space were sent from Hong Kong to Nigeria.
So potentially with Web 3 there are another 10 episodes waiting to be found in Nigeria. If they still exist.

On another thread it was confirmed that Abominavble Snowmen and The Wheel in Space were sent from Hong Kong to Nigeria. Confirmed? Where? By who? It certainly seems very likely they all came from Hong Kong. Especially for Abominable, which had exactly the same transmission pattern in every country. However Wheel wasn't sold in Zambia ... and it's been theorized that the Nigerian prints passed through Zambia after they were in Hong Kong (not sure if there's any evidence of that on the tins). If so, it is possible that the Wheel copy in Nigeria might have come from somewhere else, leaving a copy remaining in Hong Kong. But I'm only theorising ... so I'm curious what your source is for this.

Hi Nicholas.
Its on Page 18 of the Enemy of the World/ Web of Fear recovered thread as Mark on there confirms paperwork suggests Abominable Snowmen and Wheel in Space were sent from Hong Kong.
The tins with the prints in had Hong Kong stickers on them. I think Paul Vanezis confirmed this on this site.

There's no doubt that Web and Enemy came through Hong Kong. And likely Abominable as well based on transmissions. But if all 4 came straight from Hong Kong where did the Zambia copy come from, and where did it go? And if Web and Enemy came from Hong Kong through Zambia, did they then ship Wheel directly from Hong Kong in addition to the others from Zambia?
