Husar!! someone else asking after this show!! I had been on a 20 year hunt for this programme (long time goon archivist) and this year celebrates the 15th anniversary of my 1st Net postings about this show..
well Ive just got it.. 3 weeks ago.. its not very good.. if you are a die hard goon fan like me its great.. but its a terrible script to work with. it was recorded in coulour AND B&W with two camera's strapped together (thats what a enginner on the prog told me yonks ago) the B&W one was VT (no longer exisits) and the colour one 16mm which exixts in a variety of forms, 1. A manky 16mm with lots of "missing" frames stuck together with sticky tape .. this is the version 90% of people have
2. A very nice 16mm print, which was used on a goon doco 10 years ago,
Now for the 5627th time.. could anyone copy for me.. on ANY format the 1966 Secombe and friends show ith the goon bit.. Peter sellers was so wrapt in this show he asked for a full print of the entire goon segment, this print survived sellers great burnings of 1980 (where a HELL of a lot of goon footage was destroyed, sellers aslo trashed all his films prints with milligan after a Falling out with spike in the mid 70's. aparently from what iv'e been told 1st hand sellers had whole 1950's goon shows on film, most of thier TV work for AR etc etc)
This is the print that was screened for the MBW thing years ago.. someone muuuuust have it?

Yes, I remember no one in the audience laughed much. It didn't work well.

I think Public Broadcasting in the US may have shown the Thames "Tales of Men's....."many years ago but I'm not sure
