Ian51 epsiodes - all to be released by Network, starting Monday 6th June...
(Though I suspect what you really mean is "How many episodes featuring William Hartnell exist?", in which case the answer would be 13, (three from series 1 and 2, ten from series 5).

Only fifty-one episodes survive? That's only about a third of the series, isn't it? I was under the impression that Granada's archive was moreorless complete (bar the odd loss due to damage, rights issues and so on). That's a shame. My grandad worked on the series (not sure when, but he did work on it when Hartnell was in it) and I was hoping to see some episodes with his name in the credits. He did the lighting (studio lighting, I assume). He worked for the BBC briefly before moving to Granda. Pleased to hear the series is finally being released.

Almost everything of Granada survives from about 1964/5 (I think). Before that, with the exception of Coronation Street which is complete, it's patchy but still far better than other archives. Look at www.itnarchive.com/search/ and pick Granada Visual to see.

He did the lighting (studio lighting, I assume). You'd be very lucky ... most crew credits (excluding Producer/Director and Designer) were not present on any Granada or other ITV company programme end credits until well into the 1970s ... "studio lighting" possibly even later than that.

I'll have to try and find out what he worked on later as I'll have no way of knowing which episodes of The Army Game he worked on without the name credit.

Does anyone know whether any of the episodes listed on the following page are missing? www.78rpm.co.uk/tvc.htm#armI've tried searching Google for an archive list, but couldn't find anything.
