Does anyone have any advice on how best to download the audio from Youtube at the best quality? Most download programs seem to only accept videos 30 minutes or less. Also, I'm a bit wary of using the utilities which ask for a Java applet to be installed as I've heard that these are potentially full of adware etc.
I am able to download the video with sound, but not just the sound itself.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Any advice would be appreciated. Paste the youtube link into keepvid.com into the box provided and click the small download button to the right of that box. Ignore all the other large download now/play now/etc buttons. Accept the java thingummy. Then a series of links will appear for various different filetypes. If there's a link for a 720p mp4 get this one as it has the best audio quality (anything higher than 720p will have the same audio track so there's no point getting the even larger ones if they're offered). If there's no 720p mp4 get the biggest flv. Once you have your downloaded file, to extract the audio track use Flv Extract from moitah.net for flv, or for mp4 use Yamb from yamb.unite-video.com
