I know that Girl on a Trapezee was discovered in the UCLA archive, but I've also read that other "Avengers" footage was found too, though haven't been able to find a site with any clear information about the other footage. What else was found? From what I could gather, it seems like an extract from Hot Snow was found followed by the almost complete episode.
Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Do you mean the (almost) complete "Hot Snow" was found at the same time as the original find, Ben - or has this come to light in the years since?
I thought it was only the first reel (of three = 20 mins per reel) of "Hot Snow" that was found...

I read that along with "Girl", a extract was found from Hot Snow in the UCLA archive and, shorlty afterwards, a nearly complete episode was found. However, I assume this was actually the first reel that you mentioned. Are The Avengers episodes one hour long?

Regarding the lost Ian Hendry Avengers ep "Girl on Trapeze" this took nearly a year before it came back from the UCLA archive in the US. It missed one Missing Believed Wiped and we had to wait until the next year before it finally turned up. At the same time or maybe a couple of months later I was told that the first reel of "hot Snow" (EP 1) had been found in UCLA-but the last I heard it was still in there hands. There was hope that the rest of the ep may be found but so far nothing seems to have surfaced. It would be nice to have the first reel back even if that is all their is;would make a good filler material at 2005 Missing Believed Wiped. It may be worth checking with Canal + /John Herron to see what is happening re this piece of film.

I contacted John Herron recently about this as I hoped to show it in this year's All-ITV Missing Believed Wiped event but there seems little hope, apparently theres some hold up possibly between the French end of Canal Plus and the UCLA.

Over at the mausoelum club there is a thread discussing the potential VCI dvd release of The Avengers. Apparently 'Hot Snow' has already been released on dvd in France with an issue of an Avengers partwork series. One chap has even posted some frame grabs on his website taken from said dvd, so I'm guessing the copyright holders must have had their hands on the 'Hot Snow' reel for some time now... Here's hoping a copy makes its way to this years MBW!
