Does anyone know which editions of Christmas Night With The Stars have survived? I'm aware of the existence of editions from 1958, 1964 and 1972 but are there others? I would imagine that the forerunner Television's Christmas Party is all gone unless anyone knows differently. Thanks.

The Dad's Army sketch from 1969 survives in colour but not the whole show, I don't think. Those years you mention are about all that are left. Can't think of any others offhand. A film insert for the 1967 Steptoe sketch survives too. A shame as I remember several of these from the mid / late '60s.

The three you mention - '58, '64 and '72 are the only three that seem to exist as complete programmes. There are other bits and bobs from other shows in the 'series' but the sketchs/clips are linked and the 'link' material would probably have been junked and then the sketch/clip might then have sunk into obscurity.
On the other hand I have always hoped that the programmes the Beeb sent abroad have survived somewhere or other and will eventually come to light.
And I'm not sure that the archives at the Beeb are a credit to the organisation and the same might be said for the independant channels.

Weren't clips from a 1973 edition shown at a Kaleidoscope event recently (although I thought the original run ended in 72)? Was this a typo or was a 73 edition in fact in preparation but not transmitted?

I think 1972 was the last one.
