Taxi! - Sid James - '63-'64
Hi all, again!
Anyone know how many of the 26 episodes made. still exist ? Also, does anyone know the titles of those 26 ? Was there more then on series (as I'd imagine there must have been) ?
Many thanks in advance ;-)

There were two series:
10/7/63 It's Lonely Up Front 17/7/63 Barricade in Bailey Street 24/7/63 Everybody's In - Goodnight! 31/7/63 The Outing 7/8/63 The Villain 14/8/63 The Runaway 21/8/63 A Long Way to Go 28/8/63 The Accident 31/8/63 Benefit of the Doubt [changes tx day!] 7/9/63 Who's Taking Who for a Ride? 14/9/63 Ten Years Hard 21/9/63 Can You Drive a Little Faster? 28/9/63 Don't Do as I Do
4/4/64 Get Me to the Church 11/4/64 The Scousers 18/4/64 Two Little Ducks 25/4/64 It's a Long Way Home 2/5/64 The Price of Smoked Salmon 9/5/64 Tich 16/5/64 Sunday Mornings are for Sleeping 23/5/64 Three Bags Full, Sir 30/5/64 Christmas in May 6/6/64 Will You Marry Face? (sic) 13/6/64 We've Got to Live in the Winter 20/6/64 Two-Five-Two 27/6/64 It's a Mug's Game
The only complete existing episode is "The Villain"; there is a clip from "The Accident" in a programme called "More Than Meets the Eye" tx'd 20/5/65 (it was about tv violence, the clip doesn't feature Sid James, as far as I remember).

Thanks for that Andrew!
Are you sure, only one episode remains ? As I do seem to remember someone (somewhere) suggesting, they'd seen at least 4 episodes...

That's definitely all the BBC has... Can't speak for anyone else!

Ian, that may be where I saw it. I'll go over there now, and have a look...

Ha!
Looks like I did question it - and the poster had confused it with CITIZEN JAMES.

Indeed Ian. That's what I discovered. Looks like there may be 4 remaining, though, from what I could gather...

I was the poster on MC who thought a tape I received contained Taxi, but it did in fact contain 5 season 1 episodes of Citizen James.

Any chance of divulging the quality of the 5 episodes you have on that tape ? Only I have 4 episodes, but they leave a very lot to be desired, quality wise :-(

Episode 1 is a veritable drop out party, so much so that the first 5 minutes are pretty much unwatchable. The remainder is surprisingly good, as are the other episodes I have. They're a little dark, but the picture and sound quality is perfectly respectable. Not broadcast quality, but not too far below it.

Many thanks for you response ;-) As I said, I also have five episodes of this series, but unfortunately, they all sound only as good as your episode 1. Any chance of copies of those ohter 4 you have, that are much better quality ? If you'd like to discuss it, please email here: ted_rogers@operamail.com. As I appreciate, this is not the place... BTW, I may have something to in my own archive/ collection, that I could trade...
