hi all ,im glad chris that you can also remember the edition of 45 recorded at manchester belle view funfair ,i also remember watching this edition of 45 ,i remember the bay city rollers performance of shangalang on this edition filmed in front of the fair ride that was equivelant to blackpools octupus ride ,also joe dolan singing sweet little rock n roller assisted by resident dancers on the show ,zig zag ,and showaddywaddy performing their new release of the day ,hey rock n roll, ive searched for years for some info of this edition filmed at belle view just to prove to myself that my memory isnt failing ,but so far ive not found any info anywhere to back up my memory of it ,i think this edition stuck in my mind more because belle view was a place we visited as a kid for a daytrip in the summer hols ,cheers

im pretty sure the hey rock n roll clip isnt from lift off ,lift off 1974 series finished in january 1974 and returned in july of that year ,showaddywaddy did perform rock n roll lady in aug i think on lift off ,and it wasnt unusual for a group to perform an earlier hit of theirs on the same show as well ,but the fact that the clip of hey rock n roll does not match the scenery of july aug sept that lift off with ayshea used on the show probably rules out its not from the same show as rock n roll lady ,im not really sure if the song was included on the december edition when showaddywaddy performed hey mr christmas on the show ,but no records of the show confirm this ,id really love to find out this was from lift off ,as i think its a tragedy that so much lift off was wiped ,but i have my doubts its a lift off clip of hey rock n roll ,i just hope im proved wrong

I can say for sure that the recording dates prior to July 1974, but just not sure when it was transmitted! Interesting discussion...

This is the clip we are referring to &, if indeed it is proved to be Lift Off, is missing. We just need to know the name of the programme and the TX date!

Yeah 'Fox On The Run' is known about Paul. It was included on Sweet's semi-official 'Desolution Boulevard' DVD

I recall a snippet of Hey Rock And Roll (I think it was this 'Lift Off' clip) being used in ITV's 1983 series, "Greatest Hits".

If the consensus is that 'Hey Rock'n'Roll is from Lift off then that opens up the possibility of other 'clips' being identified from this background and microphone id. Such as 'Bay City Rollers - Summerlove Sensation'. This is listed as missing from lift-off as far as i am aware. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrcQaptZleI

as ive said before im almost sure the showaddywaddy and bay city rollers clips are not from lift -off ,if you look at the clip of the sweet doing the sixteens on lift off in july 74 ,this was the studio scenerey ,apart from the numbers 16 that are hanging on that performance ,that was used most weeks in the early part of the series of 74,ive seen in the past a picture of the bay city rollers from july 74 performing ,summerlove sensation on the show ,and the lift off scenery was more like how it was on the sweets performance, only the squares on the floor were orange and green ,i think ,plus there was matching coloured blocks on either side of the stage ,that the bcrs performed on ,hope this bit of info is useful in trying to establish if it is lift off or not ,to me both clips look like they could be some kind of early promos ,of the groups
